No one cares about that. Dems need a clear message about what they stand for. Schumer made that hard to do by stamping the Republican budget as bipartisan. He’s too much a creature of Wall Street and can’t see the bigger picture that sometimes you need to fight or things will get much much worse in the future. |
There's fighting the good fight and there is sheer stupidity in fighting just to lose. I never liked Chuck but I am actually impressed he has the foresight to realize this standing up to not pass CR would backfire. It's easy and popular to stand up to the evil GOP who made this wicked bill but long game wise shutting govt down will def be worse. You give Trump MORE not less power that way - it's exactly what he wants. Shutting down allows him to basically take over. The Dems are idiots. You lose this battle but live to fight the war but if you don't pass CR you lose the war. Chuck got it. He has more experience. You gotta play the long game. The PR game looks great short term but you gotta govern for long term. Everyone will hate him for this and he knows it so it's actually quite amazing he's gonna die on his sword so to speak doing this right thing. |
Nice spin but no. This is strategically stupid. Let the public see what they voted for. They’ve been seeing, it’s not going well. Let them see it on steroids during a shutdown. |
He’s an embarrassment. |
They don’t control a single branch of government. They have no path to passing a funding bill with language to block Trump and Musk. Democrats who believe they do are delusional. Why would the President sign such a bill? This CR was basically all of the spending they voted for last year. I don’t see why they would shut the government down over virtually the same spending bill they voted for last year. |
And Pelosi. Right now the party isn't changing their DEI and crazy issues Americans reject. If they want to have a chance in four years they'd better make significant changes. |
This is embarrassing. We are living in two branches of government where the administration often ignore laws and congress is a rubber stamp. |
Most embarrassing thing is that we've been considering CR passings v an actual budget for this long. It's not a way to go.
Chuck is right. Most people have no strategic thinking ability. You shut down the govt and people will be yelling louder once Trump gets his ways. It's a no win situation for Dems but you really do give Trump everything if you don't at least keep things running. Remember Trump and Musk want to rebuild the govt in their ways. You have to destroy what is there first to do that and by shutting it down, you effectively allow them to take over however they want. The only ones hurting will be everyone who disagrees with them. Logically it's so clear I'm not sure why people don't want to see it. I get it's maddening to let them do such horrible stuff in this bill but either way it'll suck. Once you fold you're done. |
The Dems need to try to stay United. Divide and conquer is a real thing. The Dems are doing it to themselves with the divisions and it only makes rhetoric republicans stronger. We truly need a leader with sensible messing to follow to make it through the next 4 years. Someone needs to step up now. |
It won't matter that it makes everyone see clearly how evil Trump and co are because he will have so much power if govt shuts down. You get one or the other - piss everyone off by passing this bill or piss everyone off by intro new ways of pissing everyone off on a daily basis. Which one you want? |
You are woefully ignorant if you think a government shutdown was the way Dems should go and Thank God intelligent heads will prevail. |
Trump and Muck want a shutdown! |
That word is doing a LOT of work. Taking a BILLION dollars from DC and giving Trump more power to impound don’t sound like dem ideas. |
Democrats owned again. Wonder who is going to step up in that party. |
