It’s isn’t 240,000 18-40 year old men. Lots of families. Elderly, mothers and kids. How does sending them back to starve and be slaughtered help Ukraine?

No one is starving in Ukraine. The food is amazing there.

There are many legal ways to come and to stay in US. Consult with immigration attorney to determine what are their options to stay here.

They consulted and were told that there are no legal ways to switch a status right now.

There are tons of options to come to US legally. If they don't qualified for any single of them, there must be a reason. They should leave US then.

Do you not know what asylum is? That’s when people flee because of a war. You think these people aren’t working within the law????????

Read the requirements for asylum case. Most of Ukrainians were not persecuted by their own government, hence very few of them will qualify for asylum in US even if they fled the war. I cannot changed US asylum laws. Maybe they qualify for asylum in any other countries, but not in US for sure.

I did. Just returned from Ukraine, food was amazing.

Ukraine needs more troops to win this war. If you want Ukraine to keep fighting until it wins back all occupied regions, doesn't it make sense to send them back to help their country win?

6.8 million Ukrainians have fled the country since the start of the war in 2022. That's insane. How can you win when people are fleeing the country?

Most of these refugees have illegally crossed the Ukrainian border to dodge conscription, despite a nationwide ban enacted by Zelensky prohibiting men between the ages of 18 and 60 from leaving.

Zelensky has said repeatedly that he wants refugees to come back. Ukraine needs them more than ever.

They should unironically start supporting Russia...

Either they get to stay or work in the occupational administration.

That said, I do think that every Ukrainian should be offered asylum in the United States -- they are one of the few groups who can truly be called war refugees. I suspect that most Ukrainians will never leave the homeland they have fought so bravely in defense of, but as a gesture of goodwill it would be very powerful.

Most of the Ukrainians do not meet asylum criteria. The problem is that a lot of Ukrainians abused the program (U4U), a lot of people who came here was not even eligible for the program (like they were not in Ukraine on the day the war started, some of them lived in Europe for several years and wasn't even in Ukraine). A lot of fake boyfriends who are not Ukrainians came with Ukrainian girlfriends only by paying them a flight ticket price. A lot of Ukrainians paid several thousands of dollars to fake sponsors and now it popped up in the system that the same person sponsored dozens and sometimes even hundreds of Ukrainian. A lot of Ukrainians came under this program from the areas of Ukraine that were never affected by the war, just to have a free ride to US and now traveling across US and posting their travel blogs. Now instead of weeding out all the false refugees, the government might just shot down the program completely.

Exactly. Each application needs to be throughly examined. The fraud is massive.

Typical MAGA line. You have to claim fraud about every program with no evidence -- just so that you can justify destroying it. You are a simpleton who believes everything you're told without question.

I was at the border of Ukraine during the first weeks of the war when you could hear the air sirens going off on the other side. The war shifted eastward, but there was no way of knowing then or now if/when it would shift west again. So the cars and buses were lined up by the hundreds to get out. Just as you would if there were bombs being dropped a couple of hours' drive east of your home.

Putin has wreaked havoc on this once beautiful country. They have defended themselves admirably. We offered sanctuary as we were obligated to do. They wouldn't be in this mess if we had not talked them into giving up their nukes in the Budapest agreement. As someone else said, these are the racist Trumpers' dream refugees. White. Highly educated. Why is he sending them back?

I fixed it for you. Democrats put Ukraine in this situation.

Why should they concede even 1%? If Russia invades the US, should we concede 20% just to keep the peace? Trump would consider that "great negotiating" I suppose.

They have only two choices:

1) concede today
2) continue fight and lose more territory and more people.

There are no other choices for them with the current ammunition supply, current commander in chief, and pro-Russian top generals. As long as Ermak continues running Ukraine, they will continue losing more territories.

The demand to return to 1991 borders is as stupid as the demand to be accepted to NATO. Both are unrealistic and delulu.

Why would they fly all the way to the US? Wouldn't it make sense to go to Poland or some nearby country?

Well said!
You concede because you have no better choice, not because you agree with it.
If Russia invades the US, we would not concede anything because we have the military power to defeat them.
