I can't tell if it's because of the Target boycott or the unstable job market around here, but my local Target was teeming with leftover Valentine's Day stuff on Jan 19 when I went to the CVS pharmacy in there.

There was much more merchandise leftover 5 days after the holiday than I've ever noticed in the past.

CVS pharmacy was unable to fulfill a critical prescription my T1D kid needed this weekend, so the pharmacist helped me transfer it to a pharmacy that had the item in stock. It just so happened that the pharmacy was Walmart pharmacy. Again, right when I walked in the store, they had shelves of 90% off Valentine's Day clearance up front.

OTOH, my local Costco was an absolute madhouse. I couldn't find parking on Saturday so I left and decided to try again on Sunday. Yesterday was just as bad and I had to employ the same strategy I use when I visit the outlet mall: slowly follow someone to their car and wait for them to load & leave to get their space. I noticed when I was waiting in line for the worker to check my receipt to leave that the line for new memberships was very long. And yes, I know it was new memberships b/c they now have a sign that says memberships <- and returns -> b/c the lines have been so long. I guess DEI does matter to some people.

I don’t know about all this, but I feel like there has been a push to buy less dollar section junk like cheap holiday decorations.
