W&M Target or Reach?

OP pay no attention to the bitter fool who took the time to throw shade on your news. Congrats to your DD! She clearly made an impression and will do well at W&M!

Based on what? My kid got into both and is leaning W&M.

OP here. I think PP is saying my daughter wouldn’t have gotten into UVA (which was not on her list BTW) and that W&M has really relaxed its standards by letting her in.

I am not saying that they relaxed their standards by letting her in. I am saying that it is becoming increasingly easier for out-of-state students especially to get into William and Mary than it is for them to get into UVA. It’s now a one in three chance for W&M and one in eight for UVA.

Also, UVA does not track “demonstrated interest“ because they get too many applications to do that. That’s another reason why I think your daughter would not have gotten into UVA.

Well, W&M relaxed their standards when they let me in and I made the most of it. Good luck.

And, by the way, UVA let down their admissions standards with me that year as well.

W&M admissions are more self-selecting. You can't compare the two because there are thousands of OOS students who apply to UVA who wouldn't get admitted in a million years.

Nice backpedaling, PP. OP called you on your rude post. Perhaps you could think about why you felt the need to rain on a student’s parade?

But why are we discussing UVA at all? OP was clear her daughter didn’t apply. So how was this poignant “observation” relevant or necessary?
