Do many kids take the study abroad option? |
It's grown in popularity. They offer pathways in 5 or 6 cities. And there have been some recent features by W&M News on students who have completed the program, profiling their experience. Only downside is that you miss all the 1st Year orientation in the Fall. But likely a good option if you can afford the additional cost and W&M is your first choice. My D25 definitely would have pursued it if she was waitlisted. See this article. https://news.wm.edu/2024/01/18/broadening-the-path-to-william-mary/ |

There is a Spring orientaton |

What kind of scholarship? Through W&M? Who nominated her? |
| Would it be possible to start the following fall, rather than taking the Spring Pathway option? I feel like the freshman dorm experience is helpful for building those deep friendships; I'd prefer for my kid to not miss out on that. |
No, kids can’t defer to fall. |
Wouldn’t the kids doing Spring Pathway study abroad bond with their cohort too? |
| I’d be surprised if she didn’t get waitlisted at least. Fall admit seems possible especially since she demonstrated interest. |
UMD was insane this year for certain in-state schools. Our school went from a 50% admit rate last year to <20% admit rate this year. UMD doesn’t WL or defer. |
NP. Awesome! I was going to say hard target OOS w/o scores, but maybe this makes it more of a target. |
A 1350 puts you at the 94th percentile nationally for HS students. Seems in line with 8APs with 4/5s. |

If you DD can just get WL to W&M she can enter next spring through their guaranteed admission program — she would do Fall semester at a community college or approved study abroad program then enter W&M on campus Soring semester — hoping she gets full admission offer but this is also a 2nd way in.
Our DS is also waiting to hear. |
1350 is fine, not pathetic, but not good. With those AP scores, 1400+ is what I would expect |
