Honestly, his lack of experience and vocal protests about women in the military make him unfit. The fact he cheated on his wife or has a drinking problem aren’t relevant. I think Patel and Gabbard are bigger threats to America than Hegseth.

This sums it up. He is not qualified to run the Pentagon, but blocking Gabbard and Patel are more important.

The US works closely with ASEAN, which stands for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, on Indo-Pacific security and defense issues.

“I couldn’t tell you the exact amount of nations in that, but I know that we have allies in South Korea, in Japan, and in AUKUS with Australia in trying to work on submarines with them — ” Hegeseth said.

“Mr. Hegseth, none of those countries are in ASEAN,” Duckworth said. “None of those three countries that you’ve mentioned are in ASEAN. I suggest you do a little homework before you prepare for these types of negotiations.”

There are 10 member nations of ASEAN, including Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore."

If he’s a change agent, what large scale change has he implemented or overseen?

How come no one asked what he thinks of Trump’s characterization of service members as losers ( especially the ones who have paid the ultimate price). His mistreatment of John McCain? You either support the rank and file or you are a sycophant on that issue.

There is just too much waterfront to cover. A pp was on the right track though with posing substantive job-related questions.

It’s mind boggling that a senator on the armed services committee is asking the nominee about how many push ups he can do. Just wow.

Republican questioners intimated that the key to recruitment is to eliminate DEI initiatives.

Like that will make the military more appealing to ethnic minority group members, women and LGBTQ individuals.

The invasion of Panama, Greenland, and Canada comes to mind. He owes his job to Trump and Trump already has a dossier on the guy. Trump doesn’t employ anyone he doesn’t have dirt on. Don’t say we can’t invade without the approval of Congress. They will comply and Presidents have ignored Congress many times already with no push back.

This may have been true, back in the day, but those days are gone. He acts on impulse, now, hiring (and firing) whoever strikes his fancy at any given moment.
