Traveling internationally is going to be a challenge as an American

PRIOR to this election going al the way back to 2015, I got asked by people all over the world, in complete disbelief and incomprehension, by strangers mind you, "how on Earth did DT get elected/how is he the candidate again/what happened to America." I have my first trip since the election, tmro and I don't feel safe as an American knowing that we put so may people around the world in danger. I do think this is so so so similar to the rise of Hitler that it won't end well or happily. I do have dual citizenship with Ireland. My only regret is doing this after I had kids. My kids who the youngest is a junior in college--are in their early 20s and if they all had EU passports I would easily move. I still may in a few years.

Tell them we are horrified by haggis, kilts, & Craig Ferguson.

Every European claiming to be horrified at America is in denial about their garbage at home.

Let’s take Scotland for example. The political leader of Scotland for decades is a guy that went on trial for sexual assault.

And the person that replaced the rapist was arrested and her husband charged with embezzlement.

Americans should stop being so friggin’ ignorant of Europe and also should stop looking to b.s. Europeans for approval.

The US is far, far better than Europe no matter what you think is true. Almost all of this europhilia nonsense is a lie.

I'm currently in Australia and no issues. 95% of people have no idea where I'm from because I don't walk around in a costume that identifies me as American. The other 5% I talk with are far more interested in me as a person and not some personification of America. The only person who mentioned Trump to me was another American.

i mean yes, seriously.

i’m in southeastern europe right now for work and in talking to a local, she said while europe is concerned about the future of NATO, most people here wanted Trump to win.

I have family in southeastern Europe, visit every year, speak the language, and follow the local news, and except for the occasional person that shares Trump’s hatred of migrants, most people are shocked by the Trump win. Quite a few texted me after the election to say WTF? I’d be curious to know which country “wanted Trump to win.”

I am pessimistic about traveling abroad not due to Trump per se, but the increasing anger about Gaza will make Americans targets, and Trump will give Israel full support in their actions.
Also if Trump actually targets Muslims visiting or Immigrating to the US, that will make things worse

It's not. It is usually helpful to make clear that you don't vote for Trump.

There are definitely NOT 340,000,000 Americans.

There might be 340,000,000 people currently residing in America, but not all of them are American Citizens. Further, probably 21-23% of American Citizens are minors who cannot vote. That’s an additional 70,000,000 minors.

So probably 98,000,000 people in the US out of 340,000,000 are not in the electorate at all.

Of the remaining 242,000,000 potential voters, roughly 65% of them are registered and DID vote - which is still a pretty large percentage of people. So 70,000,000 votes is a pretty strong showing for President Trump. It’s almost one-third of everyone who could potentially vote IF they were all registered - which is a practical impossibility.

DP

I was in the Uk last week, and an overwhelming majority of people who spoke about politics “with this random American” were thrilled to see Trump coming back.

OP I think you have “main character syndrome”. I traveled extensively during the election to various countries. At no point did I think I needed a “Kamala Harris” shirt. At most, people are interested / voice dislike of Trump. The vast majority of people truly do not care. Get. Over. Yourself.

Sure. Visit Mexico or Europe or Asia with your Maga gear displayed. That will be wonderful for you!
