Traveling internationally is going to be a challenge as an American

Ireland has its own issues. Yes, people in Europe sometimes do ask about Trump, but it's not a big deal. Few countries are issue-free and there is a rise of the far right in many.

Nobody's gonna attack you, but personally I am not feeling particularly proud of being an American rn.

America had a free and fair democratic election and a republican got more votes…and now op is on the run as an international person of mystery.

I traveled internationally during the first Trump administration and everything was totally normal, OP. Your tinfoil hat is showing.

+1. Just explain that you did not vote for Trump.

This is so hilariously pathetic. My goodness, the lot of you are seriously mentally unwell.

No, we're fine. Just a little practical advice for traveling abroad.

The lot?

Most Trump voters don't even leave the county, much less the country, apart from the rich ones, and the rich Trump voters are the ones who have already been giving Americans a bad name abroad even before they made Trump President.

So start a thread about them. This thread is about traveling abroad.

There’s no danger in traveling. You will probably get some demeaning looks, perhaps pity, but no one is going to attack or abuse you. They understand what happened here because it happens to them too. Many countries are struggling with disinformation and foreign interference including Moldova and others. Putin is winning, unfortunately.

I was in a shared car in Maun, Botswana, spring 2017. First question was about Trump.
Later a Spaniard told me that everyone he meets, denies having voted for Trump. We figured out that he only knows educated people from East and West Coast.

Last visit in Germany in October, I was constantly asked about Trump.

Yes, there definitely are LWNJs everywhere, not just here in the U.S. I would be very, very careful what you say in front of them because they won’t hesitate to get up in your face screaming - or worse - if they even suspect you voted for Trump. Lots of mental illness among the left. Be careful.

Follow up, I just tell them I live in my blue bubble in Maryland. They understand
