Legal immigrant status

I would recommend figuring out an exit strategy and planning a retreat, so that you can have a hope of a safe landing instead of waiting til Trump's ICE takes you by surprise in the middle of the night.

If Trump is to be believed, whatever country will take you

Exactly. Nobody in this process has ever said that in this situation, they need to get your permission on what to do. That's kind of the point of it.

I honestly don't think Trump cares if you're from Bulgaria or wherever, or if you've spent most of your life in the US and don't even speak Spanish, he'll be happy to just dump you in Mexico with a big group of similarly confused and uprooted people.

This is what America voted for. They don't care about immigrants.

Don't let a bunch of crazies who post anonymously on a local website scare you.

If you're a naturalized citizen, then you have already been through back ground checks. Also, there are approximately 25 million naturalized citizens currently living in the US, and approximately 13 million green card holders. On top of this, there's supposed to be over 11 million illegals and there are still people flying here with visa's and simply disappearing.

ICIS or Homeland Security have their hands full.

Do you all remember Trump's "Please don't be too nice" to suspects? I don't think his officials are going to prioritize the spirit of the law when it comes to deportations.

Maybe you have a "right" to an "appeal" but ... do you really? Out of sight, out of mind, and not our problem anymore.

Do folks realize how denaturalization would work? Think doctors, nurses, teachers, tech workers. Hmmm

Please stop feeding the hysteria. Somebody might kill themselves over completely manufactured and impossible scenario.

And don't go Google something like "can I be deported?"!

Revealed: the contentious tool US immigration uses to get your data from tech firms
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/may/25/us-immigration-surveillance-google-twitter-meta-personal-data

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (Ice) sent tech giants including Google, Twitter and Meta at least 500 administrative subpoenas demanding sensitive personal information of users, documents reviewed by the Guardian show.
...
The practice highlights the vast amount of information Ice is trying to obtain without first showing probable cause. Administrative subpoenas are typically not court-certified ...
...
“While perhaps sounding benign or like a legal tool, administrative subpoenas are actually enabling very invasive Ice surveillance, not only of someone that the agency is targeting, but potentially also of anyone who might be communicating with that person on these tech platforms,” Lucal said.
...
In a few cases, the agency went much further, the documents show. In one instance, Ice asked Google for the account details behind a YouTube channel called Migrant Media, which shares resources about migrant issues (There are several channels with that name). In the subpoena, an ICE officer said the agency was seeking the names, addresses, screen names, payment and bill-face information “and any and all IP addresses associated w/ the YouTube page” as part of an ongoing “investigation or inquiry related to the enforcement of US immigration laws”.

These were regarding searches on data from 2018-2021.

denaturalization is for criminals, so unless individuals like those you identified broke the law, they won’t be denaturalized.

At least part of the plan is to take back naturalized citizenship and then deport.

Can you get ahead of this by making sure you have a backup plan for where to go (where you are likely to be able to get a job, etc.) if and when you are deported?

OP - no I have lived here since I was 2 years old. I am married with young kids. Where would I go? Is there any chance they could round up people like me, put us in camps and then deport us to some unnamed country?

There’s no way this is going to happen. I wouldn’t worry OP. There is a difference between election rhetoric and implementing actual policy. I agree Miller is like a literal Nazi but I am still not worried. Obama had one of the highest deportations records of any president and we were fine - and no one outside of immigration circles even spoke about it or even knew. The focus, I’m sure, will be criminals and then perhaps recent illegal entries.

With trump and "SS-Oberst Gruppen Führer" Homan there is a every way this might happen! I am terrified for undocumented immigrants and for legal immigrants. Homan plans on workplace ICE raids. People are going to be murdered by ICE. This is terrifying.

Have you broken the law? No? Then this issue doesn’t apply to you.

No people should kill themselves. Nobody has encouraged that, either. But we should believe people when they tell us what they are going to do, and plan for it in case it happens.

Nobody said there would be massive deportations of naturalized citizens. Stop scaring people. They could leave the country for no reason, or worse. It's a dangerous thing to do.

There are 48 million immigrants in the U.S, out of those 48 million, 24.5 million are naturalized citizens, total U.S population is 330 million. I dare Donald Trump to deport 48 million people and make America great. These 48 million people are doctors, Silicon Valley CEOs, researchers, bankers, laborers, gardeners, cooks, produce packers, meat packers, nurses, 70% of IT and other countless occupations and business owners.

So, by the logic being used in this thread, all legal/naturalized as well as illegal residents will be deported .If you want to deport 48 million people, once you are done America won't even have a bowl to beg in forget about being great again. The economics of these deportations will be so devastating to the U.S dollar that people will actually voluntarily leave this country.

I am a legal naturalized citizen, so is my spouse and my kids were born here (I am a dual citizen though), these thoughts haven't even entered my mind. Nobody cares about Stephen Miller or this border guy, economics will determine the policy and numbers just don't work. Sure, Trump will do performative nonsense and some illegal residents will get deported but that's the extent of it. Full disclosure, I do support border tightening and monitoring illegal entry, every country has the right to defend it's borders.

OP, if you are excessively anxious types, then move majority of your money to your home country, that may buy you peace of mind.

Isn’t Stephen miller the new policy advisor for trump? Isn’t he going to “turbocharge” the deportation of illegal and naturalized citizens?
