Muslim here and life long democrat. I can't bring myself to vote for Harris because of genocide. Trump might as well be worse but there is an element of unpredictability in Trump that I'm willing to take this time. I know exactly what Biden/Harris are doing.

Good luck to you. If Trump were to win again, the few brakes that we had are gone now - according to the Republican Court, a president has total immunity! - so I’m sure you’d be happy in whatever country Trump decided you belonged in.

Dp. You are not understanding the “lesser of two evils” calculus that many of us are making.

One candidate is literally part of the administration handing out weapons, vetoing U.N. resolutions, and enabling a war that is killing our brothers and sisters. They may have good words to say, but their actions say something else.

Another candidate may be saying bad words, but is not actually participating in killing our friends and family. He is a wild card and it is a possibility that it could get worse and it is a possibility it could get better.

It’s a possibility we have to take and I think deep down a lot of people would make a similar choice.

Another DP. I make those kinds of decisions and political choices all the time. I usually don’t go with a “wild card” with a multi-year track record of hating and discriminating against people “like me” though.

Trump is a wild card when it comes to his mental state. He’s not a wild card when it comes to very specific— and very predictable attitudes and actions with regard to Muslims.

Smart decision. make sure this country falls apart and then we won't be able to help anyone. Ever heard of putting on your oxygen mask first? We need to vote what is best for this country, first. I am sure you are not a Muslim voting for Trump nor a democrat.

My goodness. He was already in office 4 years and the country didn't fall apart.
When Harris says "we're not going back" I keep thinking why not? The country was better off then. (Of course she won't even answer that simple direct question 'are you better off now than 4 years ago." Gee, I wonder why?

The country is way better off now than it was four years ago. If you don't think so, that's on you. Take some responsibility and pull yourself up by your bootstraps.

DP. It’s on me that my groceries cost 20% more? It’s on me that millions of illegal immigrants, including terrorists, have entered the country- even been flown in? It’s on me that my kid who is a teacher in a solidly blue county in a blue state can’t afford to live where he works? This is all on me even though I voted for Biden??? My bootstraps have been stretched to the limit, thank you very much.

Yeah, that's on you. Prices have increased around the world. Get a side gig if grocery prices are an issue for you.

Biden raised prices by boosting energy prices, and Trump will lower grocery bills by lowering energy costs.

Suckers!!!!!

What happened during the first Trump administration? Two Muslim Am women made it to US Congress and they’re anti Trump. Trump didn’t do anything because it’s a democracy. Trump
Doesn’t censor politicians or CNN like the Biden admin does. Don’t preach about democracy before examining your own backyard

He installed a Muslim Ban and Biden repealed it.

He has immunity now. And if he wins, I hope he starts in Dearborn. FAFO. I also hope he also get the 14th amendment, immediate citizenship repealed. Hard to do because it requires state approval, but he can try.

When you watch some doughy state dept idiot who might as well have an Israeli flag behind him rather than the US flag, tell you the Israelis will investigate themselves after they
murdered yet another American citizen and you know that wouldn’t happen if Russia or any other country on this planet had murdered them and the media will barely (if at all), cover the murders —because people like Jake Tapper are considered your typical, “American” journalists as he’s screaming about everyone being an antisemite due to his own Zionism— then the hell with the US for basically telling us that despite being people who work, pay taxes, have educations, have people who serve whether in military or law enforcement, one foreign country can kill us with impunity.

I don’t know how anyone rationalizes their defense of a disastrous FP going on like this for so long and not comprehending that the US would’ve never had the enemies it had if it had actually prioritized Americans for all of these years, not endlessly lie, send hundreds of billions, break both US and Int’l law and protect from accountability one country created out of lies and the fact the west never paid for its own sins, and instead, made Palestinians pay for it.

And don’t think you’re immune from your country turning on you because you’re a good little American who sees no problem in laws violating your own 1A on behalf of one, foreign country. Slippery slope.

What a surprise another bigot who thinks every Muslim is some nefarious caricature.

You think if Harris actually held Israel’s feet to the fire, they’d vote against her?

There are entire muslim countries that have elected a woman as the head of state.

Name them.

Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan.

There are quite a few more Muslim dominated countries, Europe and Africa, that have had female heads of state. Totally nothing like middle eastern countries that are Arab. No way close. Middle eastern Muslims are a different mindset and constantly at war since Jacob and Esau.

So if you're keeping score, Biden hasn't done anything for Israel. Also, he's done too much for Israel.

Not voting for Harris but also not voting for Trump.

In my circle of Muslims that I know, only one person is voting Harris, two are likely voting for trump, and everyone else is voting third party or staying home.

There was a window for Harris to win back a lot of Muslim votes, but she didn’t earn them.

What was that “window”? What do you believe Harris should have done within that window to “earn” / “win back a lot of Muslim votes”?

I ask because I’m genuinely curious. This post is also both very specific —and short on details. Harris has been the nominee for less than 2 months — although I get that early voting and voting by mail are already starting up. Given these time constraints, I’d like to understand what Harris could have done — or possibly could still do— within them to meet your expectations.

The window was open after Biden dropped out.

When she scolded protesters and told them that they want Trump to win, it was not a good look.

They did not allow any pro-Palestinian speakers at the DNC.

DNC official platform was changed to add pro-Israeli talking points about Lebanon.

The uncommitted movement asked her for a meeting after the convention, she refused.

A US citizen was shot in the West Bank by the IDF in August, and the US said nothing.

Another US citizen was killed in the exact same place a couple of weeks later, and Biden called it an accident. The administration should have been more forceful about condemning it. What would have been the downside in calling the family and opening an independent US investigation? The family has said they have not received a call from Biden or Harris.

She has said a ceasefire is needed, but has not said anything else about how her administration would be different. At an interview with the NABJ last week, she was pressed by journalist Eugene Daniels about specific policy that she would implement, and she just said we need a ceasefire. That's it.

Meanwhile, the situation is spiraling out of control. There is almost no chance of ceasefire in Gaza anytime soon. Israel is talking about ordering the population in northern Gaza to leave, starving the people who remain by blocking all aid, and then doing the same thing in the south. Lebanon is on fire, with nearly 200 killed just today. The US talks about deescalation, but apparently approves of the "de-escalate through escalation" strategy of Israel.

As if Trump would do something different. When Trump was POTUS and advocating for cuts to every program, he made sure that military funding for Israel remained in tact and slightly increased. https://cufi.org/issue/trump-spending-cuts-le...to-israel-untouched/

If you’re on the side thinking Biden hasn’t done enough, then that’s precisely why America’s influence around the world is going down. There is something seriously wrong with you and shows just how toxic Zionism has been for the US. If you seriously think going around calling yourself a Zionist in five years is going to go over well outside of your provincial, little, American suburb, good luck with that.

Absolutely psychotic, thinking Biden —who went out there and lied to the American people about beheaded babies— costing an American child his life and endlessly going around international law and US law to give money and weapons to kill actual babies by the thousands for that disgusting occupation, isn’t doing enough. He’s been doing this since Reagan tried to muzzle Israel. Keep doing this, Zionists. You look so normal to most of the world saying Biden hasn’t done enough. Sick.

That’s a big Pinocchio for you. Biden opened up the strategic reserves to reduce oil prices after opec raised them right after Covid. The USA has the largest oil and gas productions now and going forward. Gas prices are dropping along with their stock prices. I see it at the pumps and in my stock portfolio

I would be the first person and have said many times that Biden has been totally wrong in this Gaza Israeli situation. Biden is old and from the 1960’s Israeli- Arab war and has been acting as if things have not changed and the environment remains the same. Additional Weapons should not have been provided, but that’s Biden 1968 mentality. And trump operates under that same way of thinking. I believe Harris would treat both Israel and Gaza differently if in control, but she is not. New generation of thought. And definitely not a Netanyahu butt licker like both Trump and Biden.
