So now you’re moving the goal posts and going from bigotry to racism. First of all, the gulf states and the levant are completely different, but I wouldn’t expect someone with an agenda based in hate to make that distinction. You actually like the fact that the average dumb American thinks every woman over there is walking 12 paces behind her husband, can’t drive and wearing a sheet over her head. Second, the problem isn’t misogyny with leadership, it’s corrupt families handing each other power from within. Third, your “always at war” crap: Putting aside the fact that you’ve just described Europe for most of history and the fact that most of the savagery against Jews was at the hands of European Christianity and put aside that you have an agenda against Arabs, when was the last time the west wasn’t involved in starting a war in the Middle East or invading? When was the last time unrest wasn’t at the hands of the west whether through overthrowing leaders, propping up puppets or arming fanatics? I’ll throw in Afghanistan and Iran while we’re at it. You aren’t prepared to dissect what has actually occurred over there and why and how, because you’re stuck in that myopic ignorant, xenophobic mindset. People like you overrun the state department. The fact that someone like Stuart Seldowitz was directly involved in Israel-Palestine, should make you ashamed as an American. |
We are speaking of the Muslims in Michigan right. Yeah, misogyny reigns high in that community. Harris cannot hood Israel’s feet to the fire. It’s no wonder that you would ask more of the first female vice presidents than have been asked if all the male Vice Presidents combined in the history of this country. VPS are second and third base. They are rarely seen and their positions are the POTUS position. Look how JD Vance positions are changing and morphing into Donald’s positions now. Now if Donald gets elected and does in office or resign, we will get JD’s position, a contributor to Project 2025. Fun times ahead. |
This. And frankly this is why Harris is better on a whole host of issues. It’s time for silent generation and the boomers to move aside. |
The point I am making is it has nothing to do with her being a woman. Why is there an assumption that most Muslims would even vote for Trump because of this one idiot mayor? If you think most Muslims are voting based on some simplistic man vs woman, that in itself is the problem. At what point do you drop the bigotry and your simplistic characterization of Muslims? Most Muslims are not voting for Trump because he’s a man and most Muslims are not voting against Harris because she’s a woman. Do you think most Muslims don’t want their daughters going to college and becoming educated? Do you think a Muslim man wouldn’t be proud of his own daughter being elected to office? Just a sidenote to show you how ignorant sone of you are: In Gaza, despite the hell on earth created by Israel, the literacy rate was 98%. The person with the highest GPA was a young woman and her parents were so proud that she was going to college. Israel killed her and her whole family. Stop pretending you think you know what every Muslim is like on this planet and stop thinking that making a distinction between Southeast Asia and the Middle East, makes you more educated on the matter. Some of you are so disgustingly bigoted and racist and you can’t even see it. |
Sorry, I was doing this on my phone and I formatted incorrectly. The above response was in response to the person who said I expected more from Harris than any other nominee. |
Another Muslim here who has always voted democrat. I’ll be voting for Harris because our democracy is at risk. And yes, many Muslim-Americans vote republican because they are traditionally more conservative. |
Right.because it's inconceivable that a minority could think for themselves and come to a different conclusion than what you deemed acceptable. Must be a bot. At least you are consistent and on brand for the democratic party. |
Why wouldn't a Muslim support the Republican party... They stand for religious oppression at this point, which is pretty much what the Middle East stands for as well |
Well. Immigrants had best figure out their “serial numbers”.
In his first administration he tried to put the brakes on anyone entering from majority Muslim countries. Then he moved on to the blood libel of the Haitians. Now he’s going for “serial numbers.” https://newrepublic.com/post/186239/donald-trump-full-holocaust-immigration under his potential second administration, he would round up and mass-deport noncitizens based on their “serial numbers.” |
+1 Taliban and extreme right wing are basically the opposite sides of the same coin. |
Yeah... The Taliban and American Muslims are totally the same amirite?? /S It's refreshing to see what you really think about minorities that step out of line. |
No one thinks the minority is stepping out of line. In fact, we agree that they should probably vote for the Republican party given their ideals seem to be the same |
Take a tip from the BLM movement and how Trump and his cronies responded to them.
Your kids planning on camping out at some square to protest? Watch out the military doesn't turn out for them. Sure, I can tell when someone has closed their ears to logic. I live near many Trump supporters. Don't believe me if you want. |
Please don’t put words in my mouth. I hope you realize that there are multiple people in this thread. My ONLY point here is that anonymous posters could be who they claim to be — or might not be. That’s it. You have absolutely no idea what I deem “acceptable “ or not, and I’m fine with that. Peace out. |
As someone who grew up in SE MI and is very familiar with the region and its politics, I just say please do not conflate the Bangladeshi and Yemeni Muslim communities from Hamtramck with the Muslim population in Dearborn.
Also, know that the Middle Eastern population of SE MI is not some sort of monolith. Frankly, the Chaldean and Christian Lebanese population (mostly east side suburbs) usually will not hold hands with Muslims on many issues. The old world BS that the Christians had to endure still remains with them to this day. Those scars don’t heal. |
