Exactly this. There is no need for 8th grade players to take a team spot away from a sophomore/junior at their enrolled school along with the opportunity to play for their enrolled school. For what? It doesn’t matter for recruiting. It doesn’t matter for much of anything except deny a high school student the pride and opportunity of playing for their school on their team with their peers. Those 8th graders will play club anyway and probably will go off to visitation or GDS. Wish coaches had more sense. |
| If I were the parent of these girls, I'd file an immediate complaint. This is so wrong and goes against the entire spirit of "equity"--something liberals are very good at screaming but not putting in practice. This system reeks of elitism |
|
Yes. shame on them for following the rules as stipulated.
Don't like the rules. Talk to the APS School Board. Otherwise, I'm sorry our daughter wasn't good enough. That is life. |
You are an idjit. This argument is ridiculous. No one would prevail in such a lawsuit. |
Elitist! There are plenty of rules that are disgusting. |
|
File a title IX complaint. These 8th graders are not students of the school and do not count for compliance numbers

As disgusting as these rules are, they are still rules. Vote to change the rules if you don’t like them. |
Apparently this rule has been on the book since at least 2015 when I looked into it for my MS kids. |
Can you stop repeating yourself? There are a lot of rules that need to be updated or changed. Just because it's a rule, it doesn't mean it's "right", you twit. |
Who can change these rules? Certainly not the coaches. |
| The shorter kids should try aging down to the middle school teams and wait for the screaming to start. |
the rule does not mandate the coaches to take 8th grade kids. The spirit of the rule was to fill in gaps when HS was short players. This is not the case. |
That’s your interpretation of it, not the school or VHSL. |
| This is the result of of an obsession with sports so intense that parents are drugging their 9 year olds because they can’t sleep after getting home at 9:30pm after late sports practices. |
Please. No one is pointing a gun to the school's head saying they MUST take 8 graders. |
