| Shame on you for not helping your kid become a competitive player. |
What? Title IX covers sex based discrimination. HS volleyball players aren't losing spots to boys but to younger girls. That isn't a Title IX violation nor is age a protected class under strict scrutiny. |
| HS teams are SCHOOL teams...hence the school name on the front of the jersey. Students that attend that school should get priority. Full stop. |

This. This isn’t club. Enrolled students were denied spots on their school’s team to students not enrolled in that school. And that’s crappy. |
| Yorktown parents are very good at making themselves heard by their school administrators. I hope the parents complaining here at least let the AD know what happened. |
CAN YOU STOP REPEATING YOURSELF?????????? You're completely insufferable. |
This is public HS sports not elite club sports. ⚽️ |
| What about the parent who had their eighth grader play HS sport, then held them back for a home school repeat of 8th grade- all so they y have an unfair advantage their senior year as a 19 yo against 13-14 yo. It’s getting insane. |
They have to be in the high school zone in order to play for that HS. They don't have to attend, once they are in 9th grade, but then obviously can't play for the same team. OP: are tryouts already complete for VB? They just started on Mon. |
APS middle school have tennis so 8th graders are not eligible for the HS tennis team. Eligibility is only for sports that are not offered in MS. |
Are you willing to pay more taxes to build more gym in order to accommodate more VB teams? |
| I am fine with the team cut culture but it needs to stick to the kids in that particular school. |
Do you have solutions to this problem? Will the administration go along with it? |
| I believe my kid’s former club coach became the coach at Yorktown a few years ago. This would be very on brand for this person. |
Having more boys able to participate in sports than girls is a title IX violation. Fall sports are designed to be balanced. Take enough 8th graders and female students at the school no longer have the same opportunity as boys. |
