Well, that and that you only get four years on varsity, so if the 8th grader isn't going to private school for 9th, don't put them on varsity... |
I wonder how many will find out they can't play anymore as seniors and be surprised |
They waive the eighth grade year, even if they’re on varsity so they can get five years |
| This is not correct. |
Is this even legal? Are they going to sit out their senior year? |
| The way some parents around here are wrapped so tight, I'd legit expect to get my ass beat if I was a coach that bumped some Junior off his HS team to let a 13 yo middle schooler on. I know dads who would do this. |
Those who complain that an 8th grader took their kid's spot on the HS team are likely unaware of their kid's skills and potential. They need to brag that their kid is a HS athlete, so they are mad at the coach for following the rules that don't benefit their family. |
Club baseball seems ot be increasing in this area. NVTBL has more teams every year. It's starting to affect little league. |
SP. Oh never mind. It's JV. It sucks to get cut and it stings to get cut for an 8th grader but you were probably not going to make varsity anyway. Better to find out now than at the end of your junior year. I happen to agree with you that 8th graders shouldn't be playing high school (except maybe freshman, maybe) but the coach is trying to develop that 8th grader and the rules allow him to do it. |
