so sick and tired of gymnastics Olympics coverage

I'm just sad for cute little Hezly Rivera. It's not cool that they didn't let her compete.

She DID compete in the qualifying. She played a role.

I was only a tiny bit sad because Chellsie had to go with the athletes she thought had the best shot of getting USA gold. Think of it this way: if Hezly had fallen off the beam on her mount, could she have recovered as well as Jordan did when Jordan fell off? I highly doubt it. Refocusing is something that comes with years of experience that Hezly just doesn't have.

The whole country cares about Pommel Horse guy today!

You’re out of touch.

Speaking of weird and stupid, pommel horse is an incredible event any halfway awake person with a soul can appreciate by how clutch Steve Nedoroscik was yesterday.

No, some of us were not impressed. He really isn't that big of a deal out of all the pommel horse athletes over the years.

Says the self-appointed (and self-impressed) “expert.” Lol.

Half of Twitter is wringing out their panties for him and I am here for it. Lord knows we could all use a little something fun, like Clark Kent on a pommel horse.

Let people enjoy things.

And we can say we don't care. Must everything be a consensus?

You want to start and/or contribute to a thread about a sport you don’t care about? Why, exactly? Seems tragic. [/quote

It’s current events and in the news. We are allowed to have different opinions of it. What do you care if we someone doesn’t like an Olympic sport? There are probably a few that you think are dumb or too controversy ridden to be taken seriously.

I thought at least she'd have a chance to go on bars but I understand why they went with Jordan and Suni instead. I mostly feel bad for her because she didn't qualify for any of the apparatus finals so her Olympics is effectively over. Probably a bit deflating.

I do feel bad for her because it must be weird to basically be following the rotation just to cheer your teammates on. And probably compounded by the fact that they are all older and have competed together before so know each other very well -- she probably feels like the odd one out in a way that Jade for instance doesn't even though she only competed on vault and then was done for the day.

But on the other hand since she's only 16 and this experience will be a huge growing experience for her. The rest of the team is for sure at their last Olympics (I guess never say never but it's hard to imagine any of these women coming back in 4 years) so in Los Angeles if Hezly stays healthy and does what she needs to do she'll be the veteran on that team. This is really just the beginning of her Olympic journey.

Don’t feel sad for Hezly. She is an Olympic gold medalist for life!

Man those leotards are kinda demeaning though. I know it’s the sport standard but I just don’t like the vibe.

I finally had to turn the volume off, especially with the gymnastics. No, they do not know how other athletes feel, or what they are thinking, or how they process things. Also, stating such obvious information.... she goes to her coach, she is having her ankles taped, oh this is a fault and that is a fault and a fault here and a fault there, here a fault, there a fault, everywhere a fault fault. She fell off the bar... no sh*t.... oh my this or that or she used the same composer last year and on and on and on. For God's sake we have EYES!!! DON'T WE???? And hearing the same drivel over and over and over...Don't they remember saying essentially the same thing 20 other times? They don't have to yap every single sentence.
SILENCE IS GOLDEN.

+1000

It is so strange! "She is so happy right now" "Look at mom and dad" "See her ankles" "They are passing out big hugs" "she goes to such and such university" over and over and over again, I have never heard such banality in my life. I really think that they were told no critical or serious commentary is allowed--maybe marketing studies told NBC that younger generations are so fragile that they cannot tolerate hearing feedback, even if it is for other people.

Lol. I’m watching Olympics in another country right now and the only thing I’ve seen is a tiny bit of men’s gymnastics. I’ve yet to see any women’s gymnastics. It’s funny how to hear how the US feed for the Olympics differs so greatly.

Pretty sure Simone is sick of being covered too. My God, can you imagine having a camera following your every move. My favorite was the idiot filming between some. Dude"s legs to see Jordan. Have they no shame? Surprised they didn't follow them into the bathrooms and tell us if it was number one or two.

Because, simply. she is the GOAT. No ifs, why, but about it.

She’s really good, but she lacks the ethereal grace and softness of classical gymnasts.

You mean the anorexia and the child abuse. Those were prepubescent 85lb 14 year olds.

Because NBC survives by selling ads.

It's a choice now. Some of the Germans wore full length leggings.

I think many of them are so short they're trying to make their legs look longer.
