Because we have historically been trained to please/entertain them. They get to be comfortable and functional (see flat shoes shoes), without painting their face and nails, curling their hair etc.

It is a waste of women’s time, and we should stop wearing costumes to entertain them.

And historically we as women needed to do that to secure our financial well-being. But that hasn't been the case for a long time now. So surely you do understand that a vast majority of us dress any way we like because WE LIKE IT. I like to have long hair that is not gray. I like to have nicely manicured nails, I like to wear dresses.

NP. At this juncture, it’s really difficult to entangle whether it’s just for us or whether it’s because we like the reaction.

Same poster. I was another NP.

Again, who cares? Some days I dress in sweats and t-shirts because I want to be comfortable. I go to the grocery store dressed like that. Other occasions, I want to look put together and feminine so I wear something that shows off my body. Think a date night or a party. It looks flattering and I feel more confident. I guess by that logic, women who are dressing in frumy clothing are doing it to repel men which is just as asinine assumption. Perhaps dress the way you like and don't worry about what everyone else is going?

If you don’t think it matters why people dress in certain ways, feel free to step out of conversation of those who are considering it.

Are you considering and actually asking for feedback? Or are you just here to call women trashy and tell us how we dress for men? Becaue then I will definitely not step out of the conversation, but you can.

Because I think it makes me look better and therefore more confident.

Why do you like to wear what you wear?

Because I'm hot (temperature wise)? Because I like the lines fashion wise (crops). Because I like seeing the results of my strenuous workout regimens. Because I like feeling confident and cute. I assume the women wearing floor length floral gowns as they walk through the woods holding a basket are dressing for similar reasons (comfort/personal style). What's it to you?

You sound exhausting.

I said we cannot entangle why we dress in a certain way. But go ahead and keep pretending that you only dress for you and not for attention.

If you are courting sexual attention from strangers, don’t complain that they treat you like a sex object.

Courting sexual attention from strangers is a biological compulsion for much of the human race.

So here you are. Apparently, you can entangle because you just did.

Sometimes I dress to turn my husband on and sometimes I dress for comfort. Neither is wrong. Just depends on my mood. It's my choice. No need to wonder why I do it.

Existing in public isn’t “courting sexual attention from strangers”. People have foot fetishes— is everyone in sandals “courting sexual attention” from them?

Let me guess, you two love to ask the rape victims what they were wearing before you believe them? Super humans!

Never said either of those things but thanks for your very valuable contribution.

Of course you did. Or do you not understand that wearing feminine clothing, bright colors and dying your hair to pretend to be younger are signaling your desire to appear men to be more fertile and youthful? Let’s not pretend we don’t understand how the world works dear.

It’s cute how naive you are.

Why do you suppose this PP dyes her hair to pretend she doesn’t have any grays?

Why?

Free peeks to every creep who walks by? On the metro, every guy out on parole? Some sleazy or mentally ill weirdo?

I don’t need the admiring glances of strangers to feel good about myself.

I don't know why since she is conservative in her tastes otherwise. DH thinks it is because she, by her own description, looked like Ugly Betty in her youth and craves male attention in some way.

If how I look turns you on, that’s a you issue; not a me issue and need to worry about. And where did I complain about the attention that do or don’t get? In fact, when I get attention from my husband based on how I look that day, I quite enjoy it. But you’re just a old bitty who is likely overweight and dresses like a frump, which I’m sure is ONLY to prove how much you DONT need a man.
