Summer programs are virtual. They also outsource to Montgomery college and sone of those are virtual. |
I don't remember anyone saying that during the public testimony portion of the meeting. |
Then clearly you weren't paying attention as several teachers testified about how they are preforming equal or better than some I'm person schools. |
I'd appreciate a timestamp to one place where someone has the guts to call for the closure of one or more schools in order to save MVA, as you've been so courageously done anonymously. |
One entire school building is way more expensive than tiny $4.2M MVA. Just cut administrators use of credit cards by 1/3 and that covers the cost of MVA. Easy |
How many administrators are ready to give up their restaurant dinners? Got guts? |
You keep suggesting that we close schools in this thread. When are you going to do that at a BoE meeting? |
Try reading Cut up credit cards |
If you want to know, watch the BOE meetings yourself. Why should we do it for you? Why not close all underperforming schools if your argument is test scores as a reason for the closure. |
Maybe if you would have been willing to suggest that to the Board they might have saved MVA. |
Sure Idiots that believe the lies they are told are suddenly going to wake up and think. Sure |

MVA parent here. I haven't read through all the comments. To answer your question, we are going to BYU Online HS. They are the closest match we found to MVA. Synchronous classes are held Monday-Thursday, and Friday is asynchronous with student support, clubs, etc. DC is planning to use that time for in-person EC.
MVA was fantastic, and DC advanced so much academically; I am just blown away. They never made that much progress in any other setting before. DC has an IEP |
| PP again. If MVA stays or gets re-opened we come back in a heartbeat. Best school DC ever attended. (We are in W cluster) |
What are you going to need to do in terms of paperwork? From what I understand, since these aren't approved virtual programs with MSDE, parents will need to say they're homeschooling. |
| It is technically a homeschool, but as a parent you do not need to keep a “portfolio” of your child’s work. All you have to do is submit report cards (or so I was told by an MCPS homeschool rep). |
