MVA closed: switch to private virtual?

You should double and triple check that. The portfolio is required by state law- MCPS can't waive it.

Make sure MCPS understands your child isn't taking college courses. Reports can only be used in lieu of a portfolio for college courses.

Synchronous classes are held Monday-Thursday, and Friday is asynchronous with student support, clubs, etc. DC is planning to use that time for in-person EC.

MVA was fantastic, and DC advanced so much academically; I am just blown away. They never made that much progress in any other setting before. DC has an IEP

What are you going to need to do in terms of paperwork? From what I understand, since these aren't approved virtual programs with MSDE, parents will need to say they're homeschooling.

If they are at a licensed private school, they graduate from that private. How is this a problem?

Are there any licensed private virtual schools?

Yes, but most are pricy and the not certified by the state, the two certified Calvert and I'm blanking on the other looked bad.

If they're not licensed by the state, then you have to say you're homeschooling and follow the homeschooling regulations. That was what the last few posts were about.

If they are licensed in another state, its fine. They graduate from that school, not MCPS. Just like if you sent your kid to boarding school.
