True, but a new charismatic and accomplished coach can't hurt. If it happens, let's all wish him the best as I think even these boards can agree we want the overall DMV lacrosse world to elevate.

Accomplished????

Hasn't SJC been a good offensive team under his coaching?

Episcopal will be better next spring, they bring back most of their squad.

I'm not buying the GC hype. The Falcons beat nobody this year except DeMatha back in March.

Episcopal loses one key senior close pole. They lose a great middie who was injured all year and didn’t play. They played a lot of sophomores last who all developed over the year. There will also be a few significant additions coming in next year. EHS should be significantly better next year.

The problem with Episcopal is they have little depth to compete with the perennial powers in the IAC (GP, Landon, Bullis).

They fielded a very strong team in the Spring of 2023 because they brought in a few senior transfers and reclassified them (most notably Duke's starting goalkeeper this year who had a stellar freshman year).

Episcopal's program is not going anywhere anytime soon. They were fighting for the bottom of the IAC, I'm not sure the JV won a game and they didn't have enough players to play both a jv game and a varsity game on the same day because both teams used the same pool of players. Same goes for SSSAS and STA and even Bullis is struggling with numbers now that they don't offer scholarships.

Not quite true.in 2022-23 they brought in one senior (goalie), one junior middie, and one sophomore pole. The junior and sophomore were reclasses. Goalie was barely 18 when he graduated. They also returned a senior d-pole back form injury. There was a pretty deep ‘23 senior class with a number of D3 players.

Depth is the huge issue as there are only about 220-230 boys at the school. JV team is always weak.

It is a well coached team, and they make the most of with what they have. They should be a good bit better next year but not on par with Landon, Bullis, Prep.

Lots of the VISAA teams are losing a lot to graduation, and EHS should be able to challenge for VISAA title and be 4th in IAC.

As for 2025 season, I could see a scenario where Episcopal leap frogs GP next Spring. Episcopal has always been well coached and Conklin has his teams playing on a different caliber come May.

GP graduated a big and talented senior class and have heard from several sources there is a lot of internal strife with current coaching staff and parents.

GPs JV team this year was as bad as its been in decades so not sure how much talent they have coming up from the ranks. GP will have to bring in a few marquee transfers if they want to compete with Bullis and Landon next spring.

It will also be interesting to see who Saint Stephens hires this off-season.

Very true. No one wants to pay $50K+ for SSSAS. Most people would rather commute than attend SSSAS.

Then why is the girls program still very strong then?

The right coach can change things around - don’t you think?

Wow. $52k for sssas? Ince needs to run away from that as fast as possible.

Sssas girls have gone from top 10 nationally to now outside of top 10 regionally. It’s not what it once was. At some point, money has to justify the value. The school needs a hard re-evaluation.

So is Garrett Ince going to Saint Stephen’s or Saint Mary’s?

Facilities are getting a major upgrade this summer. Look for this school to draw and keep top kids

SSSA should want to get back to where it's been.

Be in the Final Four in VISAA basically every year and win regularly.

Be an upset threat in the IAC against the big boys schools.

No coach can do that at a K-12 without support across divisions.

GP is in trouble next spring. Hearings lots of pissed-off parents who aren't happy with the program.

So it's a day that ends in Y.

Compare annual Prep chatter and anger with their rival Landon after similar situations with coaching changes. Every year there's chatter at Prep, every year it's quiet on Wilson Lane.

Someone needs to remind the Hoyas of extending some Catholic good will.

Prep parents and alumni are delusional.

I remember two summers ago a few parents, alumni/boosters pleaded with the administration to try and get Urick pushed out the door and went after Wes Speaks.

Looks like they are trying to do it again but this time Speaks has zero interest in jumping ship over to GP.
