Very true. No one wants to pay $50K+ for SSSAS. Most people would rather commute than attend SSSAS.

Wow. $52k for sssas? Ince needs to run away from that as fast as possible.

Facilities are getting a major upgrade this summer. Look for this school to draw and keep top kids

I seriously doubt it. You can only live so long on a past reputation. Too many better options these days.

So it's a day that ends in Y.

Compare annual Prep chatter and anger with their rival Landon after similar situations with coaching changes. Every year there's chatter at Prep, every year it's quiet on Wilson Lane.

Someone needs to remind the Hoyas of extending some Catholic good will.

Prep parents and alumni are delusional.

I remember two summers ago a few parents, alumni/boosters pleaded with the administration to try and get Urick pushed out the door and went after Wes Speaks.

Looks like they are trying to do it again but this time Speaks has zero interest in jumping ship over to GP.

+1.

The irony of the Prep community is irrational and ridiculous.

Why would Speaks entertain leaving SJC for GP after what he already built and established with the Cadets program? (maybe Wes leaves for the college ranks but not for a local program). Leaving for GP would be a completely lateral move. SJC has the facilities and the resources to compete with anyone in the country as is. (Cadets were very young this year - they will be a pre-season top 20 team next spring)

It's also lame when GP homers point fingers at Speaks for aggressively recruiting when the Lil Hoyas are doing the same things. Prep has players from "out of town" on its roster who either board or sleep in the basement of the creepy old coach. Prep brings in high-profile transfers to supplement its roster (Bowman and Kabari are examples).

GP bends the rules as badly as any program in the area. Kabari played 5 years of ball in HS and Prep admin turned a blind eye to the situation. (his freshman year at Landon, repeated freshman year at EHS, sophomore year at EHS, junior + senior years at GP).

So again, why would Speaks even consider leaving SJC for GP when he can do the same things at Military Road as is?

It seems like it's all wishful thinking by the Prep faithful...

SJC seems to be objectively the more attractive job if you're talking year over year ability to be good. The Speaks to Prep chatter has always felt strange in that regard.

1) Cheaper than Prep
2) More boys in the school than Prep
3) Under Armor ties
4) Related to #3, the new SJC president is both a SJC lacrosse parent and UA executive.

Speaks is not going over to Prep, let's end the speculation.

He is happy at SJC where he has built a national powerhouse program.

Doubt Wes would leave unless there was something about IAC en route to college ranks. Probably isn't but that's all I could see as a draw.

Hearing Ince to St Mary's. Anyone with close SJCHS ties hearing similar?

So many falsehoods. No one is living in coach’s basement. IAC rules are you cannot play varsity for more than 4 years, not that you cannot be in high school for more than 4 years. While there might be frustration with the coach, no one is trying to recruit Speaks. You are the irrational one if you really think that St. John’s can “compete with anyone in the country.” Stop living in the past. It was a good couple year run when St. John’s bussed in kids from Annapolis and beyond, but it is over.

If Ince does in fact depart ways from SJC, that is a big loss to their program.

He did a ton of recruiting for the cadets program.

Marriott is headed to st Mary’s. Healy moving back to Potomac. Ince new assistant at Dartmouth.

I tend to agree with this poster.

Bullis also had a very good run (under the previous sports-obsessed headmaster) and the Bulldogs also had a few elite players on their roster from Annapolis.

I believe it was Garrett Ince (SJC Assistant Coach) who helped establish the Military Road to Annapolis pipeline. If Ince does depart ways from the Cadets program to become a head coach at an area private or even leaves for the college ranks (he is more than qualified), it will be a shock to the SJC program. By all my accounts, it is Ince who does most of the recruiting for Speaks.

At least in the DC area, SJC will be a little off next year but outstanding in 26 and 27 and back to winning games outside of the region.

I'm not convinced SJC will be the cream of the crop in DC next Spring. And please, lets not speculate on the 26 and 27 seasons. Who knows if Speaks will even remain at SJC.

And by and large, if the rumors are true that Ince is leaving SJC, he was a major recruiting force for the Cadets. I know a few families who chose SJC purely because of his connections with the kids he recruited to the school.
