GZ has the best 28 class that I’m aware of followed closely by SJC. I’m not aware of any high quality 28s going to PVI or Landon. G-town got a mixed bag. I’ve haven’t heard anything about Dematha or Hieghts.
I’m hopeful that the bottom of the WCAC can improve to make it a better season for everyone. |
Time to face facts in DMV lacrosse. There has been a steady decline in talent the last few seasons and the days of top teams having double digit D1 recruits is slipping away. US club lax just released 2025 rankings. When was the last time a Madlax Cap team is ranked outside the top 30? |
Prep doesn’t give scholarships or take 5th years. Lmao |
For 28 (including those already at the school in the case of Landon and Bullis), I’d say it’s SJC and GZ tied for first. GZ is deeper, but SKC got a couple potential stars. Landon and Prep are then about even. Landon not bringing in much, the 28s already at the school make them about even with Prep. I’d give Prep a slight edge. GC is probably next although the class isn’t very deep. Bullis has a very weak class for them other than the NL goalie. DeMatha and PVI are harder to judge as they don’t just get kids from NL, Madlax, and DC Express like the others. |
Kabiri did his 4th and 5th years of high school at Prep. 1 at Landon. Reclass then 2 at EHS. Two more at Prep. |
Has nothing to do with 2025 DMV lacrosse. |
But Kabiri got a redshirt year at EHS due to covid so he only played 4 years. The gp lsm has played 4 years. He can stay at gp and not play or he has to transfer to play. |
It was inevitable as soon as Madlax and other clubs started offering club options for elementary school kids. That decision ruined rec lacrosse in the DMV and now the impact is hitting DMV high school lacrosse. Hearing more about solid HS programs with no JV teams (see Heights and PVI). Decreasing overall #s means talent is hoarded at small number of programs and it’s now reflected in decrease in college recruiting #s of DMV players to elite college programs. |
Sure, except there weren't high school red shirt years. Kabiri is a wonderful player and by all accounts a great kid, but Prep bent Maryland state rules with him. League schools are probably more vigilant now and making sure Prep doesn't make a habit of it |
Stop blaming it on clubs. The cost of entry and barriers to run a recreational program is stifling. |
There is no such thing as Maryland state rules when it cones to this. Nothing was broken and it was done with league approval. Landon could have been working on 3 in a row if the former coaches had a clue. |
So much fake news. He graduated from Prep and is doing a PG year, like many other kids have done. |
A Gonzaga defender who graduated last year and committed to Georgetown just completed a PG year. It’s not uncommon nowadays. With the transfer portal and reclassing a lot of college teams will ask players who need time to develop/get stronger to take a PG year. |
That's not fake news, that's anonymous confirmation. He may have graduated GP, but he's now a 2025 in class. |
