You poor dear. If only Trump didn’t own the GOP lock, stock and barrel and didn’t tank the GOP’s dream legislation because now no one but the most fervent believers think the GOP cares about immigration. |
This is as of Oct. 2023. And, we know that the end of 2023, we had more encounters than ever before. And, 2024 hasn't gotten much better.

If only the Democrats didn't try to gaslight the nation at every turn regarding immigration and inflation - the two issues that rank the highest in terms of concern for the American people. Biden's record on both is deplorable. |
DP. I believe HR2 is still pending. What's the reason Sen. Schumer won't take it up? Likewise, there are billions of Covid-19 dollars not yet spent. With inflation still very high, and folks in another thread giving full credit to Biden for Dow 40,000 (i.e. a roaring economy), there's really no need to spend that leftover money. |
I'm an R who also has never attended a rally or campaign event, for any candidate. Rallies aren't at all indicative of who will win an election. |
So - the NYT and WaPo are fake news? Interesting!
U.S. Customs and Border Protection said it had encountered migrants between ports of entry 124,220 times in January, down from more than 249,000 the previous month. The figures do not change the fact that the number of people crossing into the United States has reached record levels during the Biden administration, and crossings typically dip in January. https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/02/29/us/biden-trump-border-visit Fresh survey data from Gallup showed Americans now cite immigration as the country’s top problem, surpassing inflation, the economy and issues with government. A record number of migrants have crossed the southern border since President Biden took office, with apprehensions topping 2 million for the second straight year in fiscal 2023, among the highest in U.S. history. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2024/02/27/economy-immigration-border-biden/ |
Maybe. But it’s clear that congress doesn’t care. Otherwise they would have passed the bipartisan immigration legislation. |
DP. It is you and your fellow LWNJs who need to get a clue and stop gaslighting the rest of us. The PP is correct. Educate yourself. Removals and returns have increased, but so have encounters. Since the public health expulsion policy ended, removals and returns under Biden have increased. But so have Border Patrol encounters with people trying to cross the U.S. border. As a result, returns and removals are low as a proportion of the total number of these stops. For example, in fiscal year 2015, there were about 592,000 apprehensions and 453,000 returns and removals. From May 2023 to January 2024, there were 520,000 removals and returns but 2.6 million encounters. Returns and removals have increased from May 2023 to January 2024 but have not kept up with encounters. https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2024/mar/08/alejandro-mayorkas/has-biden-deported-more-people-in-nine-months-than/ |
Progressives hate women now, so this won’t work for me. |
Thanks for the link with a clear breakdown of removals, returns, and expulsions. It also has this quote: "it’s not true, looking more widely, that the past nine months of data exceeded any single year since 2015. Fiscal year 2022, during the Biden administration, would have been the highest, because it included a public health policy that allowed quick expulsions of migrants." Got that? the year with highest total was under Biden because he used expulsion to the max he was able. Does that sound like open border? No, it's just Fox spinning you into supporting more tax breaks. |
They “hate women” less than the Rs. |
I don’t think I believe that any more. I think both major political parties have embraced hating women. |
A criminal? I don’t believe he’s been convicted of anything. |
Evidence?? |
Only one party is at the Supreme Court fighting for the right to let women die during pregnancy. |
