Sure he did. Why did he "have" to attend? Was it part of his probation agreement with the court?

No, it was the acceptance offer he received. He wasn't going to be 18 in time for the start of fall semester, so he wasn't offered a study abroad option. Oakland was his only option. So he took it - and again - hated every minute of it. Do continue to snark, though. You just sound idiotic.

You sound disproportionately angry.

Not at all - just responding in kind to the PP (you?) who felt the need to be incredibly rude.

But why wouldn't he choose another option, if that option was so offensive to him? Makes no sense.

Our DC chose NEU over UVA, without hesitation.

UVA in state or OOS? Major?

DP, my VA instate kid put UVA at the bottom of the list. Wanted to get out of VA to some interesting places.
Ended up at NEU. CS and Design combined major. Got some merit, so cost is slightly more but not too much.

Good for your DC. Some will like the programs, others will not, as with most things in life

The PP was simply stating their DS's best friend (so not word of mouth, someone they know well) choose NEU and had to attend Oakland for a year and that they did not like that campus and the experience. Those are facts. They are not a Troll. Yes, there are kids who attend these programs and are NOT happy with the experience. Just like at every university. You seem to have an issues with facts not going along with your beliefs.
The OP is asking about people's experiences with the programs.

+1
I’m the PP and to be clear, the boy in question is like a son to me as he and my DS grew up together. So the information I shared was absolutely straight from him. Yes, the Oakland campus is pretty, but it is surrounded by… Oakland. He said he and his classmates felt completely trapped there. He said he would never have accepted had he known what the experience would be like.

I know people on the Oakland campus and also the London campus (first hand), and they do not have any of the experiences you describe. There are more than enough resources open to accepted students and their parents. Of course, none of those resources involve an anonymous message board. Interesting.

Wondering why any of the trolls feel compelled to chime in, when they so obviously don't know anyone with recent (last couple of years), first hand experience. Are they that bothered about where someone else's kid is attending - do sane adults really act that way? Seems clear that the trolls were not accepted, because not only is their information inaccurate, the trolls keep asking for correction of their outrageous assumptions - as if anyone owes them information about the school?

If you didn't research anything, why are you so upset that you were not admitted, trolls?

Curiouser and curiouser.......

Good for you NEU booster. You know people who are happy in those locations. The PP (and other PPs) have stated that they too know people on those campuses (first hand experiences) and some of them are NOT happy with the situation. The OP asked for input from people about experiences.

FYI there are plenty of us with kids who were admitted. We did more research as we heard about the programs (what little information there was) and decided to attend elsewhere.

Why does PP think there is one person who appreciates Northeastern (when so many Alleged Boosters have chimed in)?

Because you have a VPN? Good for you? Might that have helped you in admissions? If only.

Hmm. I'm the PP, and I find *your* posts to be A+ troll quality. I related an experience of a boy I know well, who was a freshman on the Oakland campus in 2022 - quite recent. My own kids did not apply to NU at all. I only came to this thread because of the title, since I know someone well who went there. It seems you simply don't want to hear about any negative experiences students may have had. Good luck - sounds like you may need therapy soon based on how traumatizing this thread has been for you.

THIS ^^. Amazing that relating an experience that happened to be negative gets you labeled as a "troll". The PP is one of the more insecure posters I've come across on this forum, and that's saying a lot!

What are you babbling about? And what on earth does a VPN have to do with anything?

Same hater.

LOL. Someone does not like to be challenged. Seems it is not about NEU, at all.
Anonymous
The one NEU booster has hijacked the threads and they are no longer productive. They all need to be taken down.
If that PP is representative of NEU, good luck to all of you who choose to send a kid there, it proves that my kid was totally right on in deciding to bypass the school and apply elsewhere.
Anonymous
NU.in is the first choice for many students (and their parents). I assume there is some jealousy/animosity towards the program since it attracts more wealthy applicants.

The facebook page for NEU parents who have children in the program are almost univrsally enthusiastic about the program.
