We are from the Bay Area so it was an unappealing option at my D’s SF high school because it was just like being home. The admitted everyone who applied to NEU into that program and it was several kids, some who allegedly had not very high GPAs but were full pay.

Oakland does not have a separate system.

What do you mean by that? For admissions? It is my understanding that the Oakland kids are not reflected in the averages reported so they take full pay kid with not as spectacular grades.

You are exactly WRONG. I can not imagine coming to a college post and posting inaccurate information like that. I am not feeding the troll OP, so I am purposely not elaborating.

You have repeatedly misidentified other posters as the original poster. Your repeated allegations of posters being trolls are disruptive to the thread. In addition, your repeated reports are driving me nuts. Please take a step back from threads of this sort. You are being as disruptive as the posters you constantly accuse of trolling.

You could attend University College Dublin for less than €30,000 (US$31,000) for an entire year. NUin is charging US$40k for a single semester. That's a heck of a profit margin for NEU.

Not sure it is the same audience, but okay.

University College Dublin is one of the schools that is part of the NUin program, or at least it was for 2023-24, which is why I highlighted it. The €30,000 annual tuition does not include room and board, but some of the programs are only €22,600 for a full year's tuition there. My point is that NEU is really marking up the cost of participating in the NUin program for what you are getting.

You are way off in your thoughts.

Every study abroad program is that way. You pay US tuition regardless of the tuition at the hosting college/country.

Tuition for international students at French public colleges is like 5,000 euros.
If you go to UVA and study abroad in France, you don't get to pay 50,000 euros, you pay the regular UVA tuition.

If you want to pay international student tuition, you apply there directly and become a student there.

One side note is that it's much cheaper in France, but they pay more shit ton more tax although the tuition system is still out of control and ridiculous in the US.

OP here. I just saw that N.U.in grades are no longer pass/fail and will now count toward GPA.

We're not sure if this makes it more or less attractive or if alumni would have had as much fun as most seem to?

Any class of 2027 N.U.in experiences to share?

Sorry to stoke the hornet's nest, but it's hard to get a clear picture when NEU seems to change things constantly.

OP, it seems you may enjoy "stoking the hornet's nest". The best resource for NU programs (ANY of them) is the admitted students groups, IF you are admitted, NOT this or any other anonymous board.

There is so much misinformation about the NU and other college's programs by ill willed and sour grapes parents, I would not know where to begin to start. If you want facts NU and college abroad, this is not the place. I have seen more misinformation than not, by disgruntled parents whose kid/s were not admitted, so consider yourself warned.

You need facts from people with first hand experience and IYKYK, not sour grapes conjecture. People who are admitted to these programs are reluctant to state facts on anonymous message boards, because they do not want to provide fodder for the inevitable next troll post.

Our son’s best friend had to attend Oakland his first year and hated every minute of it.

Sure he did. Why did he "have" to attend? Was it part of his probation agreement with the court?

No, it was the acceptance offer he received. He wasn't going to be 18 in time for the start of fall semester, so he wasn't offered a study abroad option. Oakland was his only option. So he took it - and again - hated every minute of it. Do continue to snark, though. You just sound idiotic.

You sound disproportionately angry.
