I'm in Arlington and the roads were totally fine yesterday.

I drove on 236 three days ago and it was totally fine.

I was on it just this past August and it was totally clear of snow.

MD seems a bit slow off the mark with this one in regards to clearing roads. GA Ave in silver spring was terrible even at 1030an, then as soon as I crossed the DC line it was fine, as are the other roads I’ve drove on in DC.

Why does someone post this every time? And the ice scraping one? And the sidewalk shoveling one? People either already know this, or don’t care. No post necessary.

The roads have no been as bad as last night easily for 3+ years. SMH.

Yes but that’s obvious and doesn’t require posters to mansplain it.

Actually, I thought the PSA was worthwhile. The weather forecast for yesterday was completely off, there was little advance warning indicating how bad the roads would be late in the day, and we haven't had a comparable snowfall in quite some time. I wish I had seen the post last evening, before my young adult son came home from work around 8 p.m., distressed about an accident that happened in front of him, saying that he was barely able to stop in time. Young drivers in the area haven't had an opportunity to practice driving in winter weather like this, and many others are out of practice.

I wish I could. Until then I stuck here, annoying you with my basic, and perfectly understandable questions.

Agree with this. I went the grocery store around 5pm yesterday and was surprised at how bad Braddock Road was. There should have been warnings up telling people to stay off the roads. The snow started much earlier than predicted and created problems that weren’t anticipated. By the time I got home the traffic report was full of accidents from the slick roads.

I went in MD at about the same time. The roads were only wet. No issues at all.

+1. I agree that there was definitely a time when the roads weren’t bad and people were out and about, and then oops, it WAS bad on the way home. So OP’s PSA may have helped people who would have gone out to stay home, or at least to be more careful when out.

And while I’m here, TURN ON YOUR LIGHTS, PEOPLE! Again, some more.

I was on the road near Reston last night around 545 and then again around 830 and it wasn’t bad. I didn’t slide at all, the snow was v powdery and not icy at all. Plus the roads had been treated and were quite driveable.
