Is there something you do purposefully to irritate people?

Occasionally I post relevant opinions and fact based comments on a parenting web forum that don’t align with the dominant religious and political ideologies.

I don’t care when people post things I disagree with, but apparently some people are extremely annoyed simply by reading things with which they disagree.

I've never identified with posters here less than this thread. I'm hyper-conscious of how I might annoy people and avoid that. It's not a good way to be because most don't deserve the mental space. I do get a lot of thanks from people who see me making their life easier though.

The only thing I can think of is slowing down and explaining something carefully and calmly when someone is pissed, just not reacting to them and continuing to talk.

I like making fun of stupid, angry people in ways they don’t understand.

IKR? I don’t understand that mentality.

It’s because people who purposely try to annoy others are emotionally immature and don’t know how to deal with their feelings. So they act like children. It’s quite pathetic. What small minds.

I notice rando things people do to annoy other people in the dmv.

Make it seem they're going to back out of a parking space when they see you and sit and wait a long time and never back out when they see you waiting.

There's a line of empty stalls in a restroom yet the woman who comes in plants herself in the stall next to yours.
That is bizarre to me. Does she want to smell farts?

People who zoom and zig zag at 80 mph in a crowded highway.

People who park in front of other neighbors houses for months on end even when they have to walk a ways away to their house. Feels like they're spying on me.

People who micromanage. It's the most obnoxious thing.

And you think that all these people are behaving in a way to deliberately annoy you. Why do you think strangers are so focused on you? Spying on you? Really?

I don't refer to things someone has posted on Facebook. It completely annoys my sister, but I don't care.

There is a dumpster on our small street from a construction project. People often use it for illegal dumping. I don't really care because I find of hate the project/developer so it does sort of delight be to think of him having to pay extra dumping costs. But, unfortunately it eventually gets to a point where it's full and so the illegal dumpers start just leaving crap in the street in the general vicinity of the dumpster.

So, if it's at that point, and I see a suspicious vehicle approach/linger, I make sure to take alllll the time in the world to putz around my front yard, sweep the sidewalk, pick up litter, etc. Sometimes after a while I head back in but watch on my security camera until the person thinks they're in the clear to get out of the car to start unloading. Then I pop back out to, I dunno, water the hanging baskets on the porch. I definitely have better things to do with my times, but it's a fun little diversion.

In many states and jurisdictions, it is considered aggressive driving and punishable by law. Seems many of you need driving school. NP here.

So going 25 in a 25mph zone is considered aggressive driving punishable by law? Wut

Anonymous wrote:I live in a condo building with a lot of dogs (including mine). There is one set of owners who NEVER leash their dogs when they take them out into the small yard to pee. They take them down the stairs (no elevator) and into the yard unleashed, and it sucks because the rest of us have to be super vigilant with our own dogs since we never know when we're going to encounter their dogs unleashed. They will grab their collars and restrain them if they start to run or jump, but it would just be so much easier if they put them on leashes like they are supposed to. I honestly have no idea why don't don't.

Anyway, I and several other people in the building have started "forgetting" to latch the gates to the front or back areas of the building when we come and go. We know this annoys them because they've mentioned it at building meetings before and will complain that if the gate is open, their dogs will run out. Of course, if their dogs were leashed, this would not be an issue.

I know it's petty and I genuinely hope they just start leashing their dogs (and that they don't get out of the yard because I do worry they might get hurt). But it's been years of this and no matter how many times they are told to leash their dogs, they won't. We're all just fed up. So this tiny, petty rebellion is all we have.

Just out of curiosity, and as a dog owner yourself, how would you feel if their dogs get out and are hit and killed by a car? Would you think, well, the owner should have done a better job or would you think you had punished the dog (and the poor driver of the car) instead of the people actually at fault?

NP, but I would squarely place the blame on the dog owner who refuses to use a leash and knows that the gate is often open.

Definitely. People had a bad day and want to take it out on others or they lack basic manners.

Barnes and Nobles. Costcos. That type of thing.

So all the people who say Nordstroms are doing it on purpose?!?

Some of them. I like to say The Internets or The Webs or The Tiktok just to irritate.

I coined "the yoga" on DCUM - as in, 40 of my friends and I did the yoga on Thanksgiving morning. I wear this badge with pride.

I assumed the poster was referring to single-lane traffic. If the limit is 30 or below in a semi-residential area, the person speeding is absolutely in the wrong. Slow down. The posted limit isn’t just a suggestion. I also slow down when someone tailgates me in this situation.

When a post on DCUM has gone off the rails with sidebars, speculation, and OP blaming - I often try to step in and defend OP against people who can’t read and just want to bring their own agenda or make it about themselves instead.

I’m assuming that annoys all the jerks who post unhelpful and rude responses.

I do that. Also if I don't like you I will call you by the wrong name

Can I ask why? Just curious- if you know the correct name. Does it make you feel “quirky?”
