no arrest in that case or in the carjacking of the congressman

number is up to 911 this am, may hit 1,000 by year end and that does not count the large # classed as uuu, the attempts, etc. stolen car number is more than double that.

in the 90s this kind of random, dispersed, in broad daylight crime was not the norm, but prosecution rates were much higher then.

No arrests in the murder of the Afghan interpreter makes me so damn angry, far FAR more than the carjacking of a member of congress.

The criminals and their enablers in our city leadership don’t care how angry you get. At all. Your anger is worth nothing to them.

This continues to baffle me. I know that four teenagers do not have the discipline to stay quiet about their violent crime. How is it possible they have not been identified?

Councilmember "carjackers are just cold" Allen should donate his full salary to a local victims fund this year.

This is why there are so many carjackings

^ This guy likely has priors in DC and perhaps MD.

Catch and release by the USAO's office imperils us all, resident, commuter, visitor.

Looking at those dates, I'm dubious that those were the only carjackings he committed after August 2023. No offense to MPD's carjacking task force.

The government could do more by providing free cars for those under 18.

This is actually not a bad idea! Graduate from high school with a 3.5 or higher and you get a car, if you are at the lower economic level.

Now all the white folk are Oprah?? "You get a car! And you get a car!....."

By law, they are entitled to “youthful offender” status, and understandably treated differently when they slip up. Everyone makes mistakes. Youthful offender goes up to age 26 in DC.

Don’t you want to give children a second chance?

Nope not when they are engaged in violent crimes

Like I literally just don't care

Locking ppl up LT does stop them from committing crimes and provides some deterrence

How's all this light / no sentencing working out?

Jesus Christ. Listen to yourself. You want to sentence kids to long-term prison sentences. You are lacking a serious mental compass.
ANd are an example of the depths of sh--- this country is sinking to.

Violent 25 year olds are not kids

They are kids until they reach the age of 26. Before that their brains aren't fully formed. I'm sorry, but that's just basic science.

So let me get this straight just so I'm clear - Dem logic is that people do not have fully formed brains until they're 26 years old, therefore they shouldn't face the full wrath of the law when they commit crime because they make poorer choices due to yet to be fully mature brains?

Funny! Yet Dems keep demanding gender affirming care for 12 year old who think they're trans? And they want to confuse their sexuality while they have impressionable young minds? Pray tell, of people younger than 26 don't have fully developed brains and shouldn't face full consequences for crime, then why should we have gender affirming care that can permanently alter a person's health when they're 12 years old? The latter has a mature enough mind now to determine that? You can't have it both ways!

I agree with you, but that's because we're reasonable people.

I've never understood why the good people of DC who will protest for women's rights, gun reform and other issues, don't make noise about issues happening in their neighborhoods. You need to organize a march or protest and get some press coverage. That may be the only way to force dc leaders to actually pay attention.

The kids are not in school in large part, not only does that make them a public safety risk and a risk to each other, but what future will they have?

That's different. One of those things is a "hot" decision and the other a "cold" decision. That's why we should let 14-year-olds vote in elections. Science is a very powerful tool in the right hands. You should need a government license to do science.
