What Winter Championship meets do you like and why?

Do all kids have a meet? What are the better ones? Goals?

IMX is the king of all winter championship meets. It tests the grit, strength and toughness of young athletes. Kids who are successful at IMX go on to great things at the HS and Collegiate levels. Time to drop the focus on 50s/100s and really have our age group swimmers pile on the yardage to get them ready for the future.

Does anyone else think IMX troll is the same person as the Rockville Rays troll, or is that just me?

Yes, it is such a joke and not connected to reality. IMX isn’t even on the radar in terms of competitiveness of meets like NCI.

When did the NCAP meet become known as NCI?

NCI is just shorthand for the actual name, NCAP Invitational.

IMX is irrelevant for college. Most swimmers are recruited for 2, maybe 3 speciality events. They don’t need to be successful at every stroke!

Lol, I understand that I just haven’t ever heard a swimmer call it by that name before.

I didn’t realize that was the name either and we are with NCAP. But yes, they are all referring to it as NCI. 4 days in College Park here we come! Glad that it doesn’t seem parking is going to be the cluster it has been before.

The kingfisher meet results were printed with NCI next to all the times that qualified. Could have something to do with it. Kids also like shorthand. Everything is sus to them too.

It’s very possible. The rays do go to imx every year

I work in College Park. UMD parking (lot 1) is all messed up purple line construction. If you need to eat while at the meet, I recommend the new dining hall across the street from Eppley. It is very good reasonably priced.

Heads up that Winter Classic is now casting admission, so bring your money. 🙄

They are charging deadbeats so they can pay the volunteers. Seems fair.

There were no volunteer spots left by the time our team got the sign up.

It’s been written like that for years. I don’t remember anyone saying it out loud though. Isn’t that whats on the swag?

+1 I wish they’d charge admission at every meet so that it would be easier to get volunteers.

They pay the volunteers? Never heard of that. But there isn’t space for every parent to volunteer anyway. I was surprised Turkey Claus charged admission.
