What Winter Championship meets do you like and why?

Do all kids have a meet? What are the better ones? Goals?

Swimmers don't get to choose their meet. They go where their team goes.

All kids have a meet, whether it’s one with “No Slower Than” cuts, one with no cuts, or one with “No Faster Than” cuts. The club decides which meet your kid goes to. Most clubs have 2 winter champs options, one for the faster kids (NST cuts) and one for the kids didn’t make the NST cuts. If a kid only has 1 or 2 of the NST cuts, they often can do some events at the other meet so they get a full meet’s worth of events. The fastest winter champs meets in PVS are NCAP Invite and RMSC’s Holiday Invite.

Each meet is kind of tiered. So NCAP and RMSC are the fastest champ meets. Then you have the Winter Classic and Turkey Clause as your second tier and then finally meets like Mako for everyone else.

Winter champs are nice because kids are lumped together at similar speeds, so better racing.

Mom of College Swimmer-I always liked the Potomac Marlin's winter classic at GMU. It wasn't too fast, and a lot of people make finals for the first time. I also like that pool and parking lot. When my kid got faster they went to NCAP, and that meet is super fast, some of the fastest high school swimmers in the country.

I like the Winter Classic. It is small and not too fast, most kids make finals in it and it is a low key fun experience.

NCI is super fast. My kid just made the cut in one event and was a little bummed because he knows he will be at the bottom at NCI vs making the finals at Turkey Claus.

Turkey Clause is so much fun! Kid stopped going to that as they got faster but we both had fun at it! NCI…so serious

The 15&O level is particularly competitive.

Do they invite out of LSC clubs too? Or are these just random fast swimmers who come? On last years results, it looks like a lot of kids from AGUA and LIAC in NYC area, but also from a bunch of other clubs in the Northeast.

Is this the one at UMD? Am I looking at the right meet? The cuts do not seem fast at all.
