DC already did a backdoor property-tax increase by making sure everyone's property assessments skyrocketed, far past what can be considered realistic. We challenged ours and won, as did a number of other people in our neighborhood, but most people won't bother challenging them. [/quote]

The Bowser Admin will be pressured to further cut commercial real estate assessments big time, given the continued softening of the office market.  So look for countervailing substantial increases in residential real estate assessments, especially west of Rick Creek, to fuel the DC’ government’s insatiable appetite for tax revenue.[/quote]
Looks like they plan to make up the balance by raising taxes again, including raising sales taxes and residential property taxes.
