I agree that our prosecution system is complicated, with the federal/local split. And that impacts the crime we are seeing. I am trying to figure out who is responsible for the chronic undercharging of gun crimes. The Feds or us or both. Other than that, we are over resourced. We are just dumb with how we use our resources.

Why not just start with the things fully within DCs control that are completely out of control?

Before anyone worries about what the Feds is doing or not doing, DC is fully empowered to fix these things on its own without anyone help.

These are the low hanging fruit and it’s deeply concerning that there is no will to do anything about it.

Mendelson and Bowser’s plan is to ask the Feds for a special appropriation for the crime lab.

Robert White’s plan is to fix 911 through offering hiring bonuses.

Does any of this sound serious considering how deeply dysfunctional these organizations are?

Well there'd need to be a cordon... I know it's farfetched. This is why everyone moves to Bethesda/Chevy Chase--there is that feeling of an "entry" to a lot of those little subhoods. Also, is it possible to speed away on their wretchedly narrow lanes?

Reading this thread makes me think most of you need to hear this. You’re in an ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP with DC. Criminals have more rights and freedoms than law-abiding taxpayers. You’ve already lost. It’s over.

Lawsuit? Like this? My only issue with a lawsuit is we are suing the city for damages, when the money should be used to prevent the problem in the first place. Ugh.

In the 80s, DC elected a Republican to Council named Carol Schwartz. It can be done. Demographics are more in your favor now than they were then. She was very good. As I recall, she did a lot to help the Whitman Walker clinic and education. She was very good, and I think she may now be retired to Rehoboth Beach, as I see her there often. People interested in running from NW should look her up, read about her, maybe even pick her brain.
