Are Teslas Basically Corollas Now?

So owning a Tesla is a political statement and to be cool and not to save money on gas or save the planet? Funny how people out themselves.

The price has come down on the base model so more people can afford them. That doesn't sit well with the elite.

Going to a gas station is like 5 minutes once a week even for heavy usage. 4 hours of your life for a year's usage. Meanwhile a couple of roadtrips and they are spending that much time waiting for it charge. Not to mention plugging in at home...

Until you go home and plug in overnight and it's ready to go in the morning. So awesome!

The Lucid cars are beautiful! I saw one on 495 recently and had no idea what it was. I had to Google Lucid when I got home to check it out.

The Lucid models are around $10k more than the Model S but they look like they're about $30k more in terms of sleekness, tbh. I was surprised to find out the Lucid was under $100k.

I don't quite pay enough attention to understand the Musk hate. I thought he was still admired until the X/Twitter debacle. What X-actly did he do that people hate so much?

This post shows how stupid you people are and are blinded by your Musk hate. Lucid? Really? The trash car backed by Saudi interests? Oh how ironic, you left loons crap on Teslas because of politics but then push a brand like Lucid that is backed by Saudi Arabia. Total hypocrisy.

Newsflash: Lucid are $100k+ piles of dog excrement. So many users report getting bricked. Multiple instances have been reported of Lucids driving forward when the car was out into reverse to back out. Lucid is so bad they fired an internal safety engineer who tried to whistle blow to federal agencies that the company was not reporting their safety performance accurate.

You people are dumb. We get it, we get it. Elon BaD! AnYThInG BuT TeSlA! Enjoy you $100k brick/lucid death machine.

I'm definitely blinded by my Musk hate. I'm happy to admit it. I literally hate that man. I wanted a Tesla before but now that I know more about him, I will never buy one.

Huh? The "elite" are buying electric Volvos, BMWs, Lucids and ID.4 Pros, all equal to or more expensive than the cheap Teslas. If wanting to think you're "elite" is the issue (and you're stupid for thinking that's top of mind for many or most car buyers), anybody can achieve "elite" status without buying a bland Musk-mobile.

On another note, I used to drive a Camry wagon my ILs gave us. Its styling was about as bland as a Tesla.

EVs all seem cheap to me

With that attitude towards EVs in general it's clear you've never driven a high-end EV, so....

Great! Try taking it on a long highway trip without stopping several times an hour each time every few hundred miles. No thanks.

That isn't a thing.

+1 Wealthy people aren't buying Teslas. They are buying Lucid, Rivian, other "prestige brands". Tesla is very middle class, maybe even lower middle class at this point. A Tesla Model 3 costs $20K less than a KIA EV. Think about that.

It's like you're Elon himself, given the crazy way you're talking, LOL!

You can always rent a gas powered car if you want to take a long road trip. EV’s are good for daily commuting.

What is cheap about EVs is that the limited battery range, which is even worse in cold weather. In addition, the lifespan of the battery is unproven and likely remains functional for less than 10 years. Furthermore, the charging infrastructure is abysmal. Cheap, cheap, cheap.
