That’s us! Why does it blow your mind? We love everything about it. We stay at a luxury hotel (club level) and have a blast at the parks. It’s our happy place. We’ve taken other vacations with the kids but they don’t have nearly as much fun as they do at Disney. They’re 14 & 16 now and we’ve been going routinely for about the last 12 years.

You need to expose your kid to other things. There's a whole world out there.

I don’t understand the people who go back every year, multiple times a year! There are sooo many places to go and see in this world. The world is your oyster! Go explore. Disney was once and done for us.

I'm the antithesis of a "disney person" in my daily life. But we loved our week there last year. It was expensive, yes, but that wasn't a surprise and shouldn't shock anybody who is paying attention. And it certainly wasn't perfect, but I didn't expect it to be because I'm not a fool.

OP - I think it's kind of a shame that you ranted to your kid about the cost and experience of something they apparently enjoyed. I try to keep my kids relatively informed about the costs of things just to keep them grounded, but I try to avoid doing so in a way that conveys that I think we wasted money on something the liked.

My teens would die of embarrassment if we vacationed at Disney.

We went pre pandemic using our military discount and got hotel and tickets at a small discount. I mean small and it was still $$. It’s very expensive. Not sure how middle class affords it. Not to be snarky but many “looked” middle class. It’s a once and done for us. Kids loved it but but have not asked to go back. They do ask to go to Europe again. It’s a big world out there. Go explore!

Disney was over years ago.

Is that why it’s so crowded? Nobody goes there anymore?

Not mine. My 15 and 13 yo still love it. Obviously we're not doing anything with characters anymore, but it's a great few days to be in a place where nobody is trying to act too cool for Disney. Everyone just embraces it.

Eh, we’re going 3 times this year. We also went to Hawaii and Paris.

Next year we’ll go to LA, Tahiti, Colorado, and WDW twice.

Same here. We have such a good time when we go!

I told my kids for this kind of money we could have spent a week on my home country and lived like kings!
Rant over

My in laws live in Florida so there was an appeal to stop by. We just did a week there and the horrifically bad food and expenses and so I will not be back.

Where did you eat? Disney has at least one Michelin star restaurant.

Say! After your teens ride "Its a small world" at Disney, take them up to Dutch Wonderland to ride the frog hoppers!

Is this supposed to be a zing? Do you feel good about yourself now? Having super cool teens isn’t enough?

If the frog hoppers were what they enjoyed, I absolutely would! But they like bigger rides - mostly stuff that I can no longer tolerate. But they go on Small World with me because they know I enjoy it.
