That’s us! Why does it blow your mind? We love everything about it. We stay at a luxury hotel (club level) and have a blast at the parks. It’s our happy place. We’ve taken other vacations with the kids but they don’t have nearly as much fun as they do at Disney. They’re 14 & 16 now and we’ve been going routinely for about the last 12 years.

My teens would die of embarrassment if we vacationed at Disney.

Clearly my kids are losers and yours are ultra cool. Dang you got it going on PP!

Say! After your teens ride "Its a small world" at Disney, take them up to Dutch Wonderland to ride the frog hoppers!

Oh FFS

Is this supposed to be a zing? Do you feel good about yourself now? Having super cool teens isn’t enough?

If the frog hoppers were what they enjoyed, I absolutely would! But they like bigger rides - mostly stuff that I can no longer tolerate. But they go on Small World with me because they know I enjoy it.

Seriously. My 13 year old nephew loved Star Wars land, Tron, etc. All the kids—from my 6 year old up to the 13 year old—think Small World is boring, but they go on it because the older relatives enjoy it.

That PP is an a$$hole.

The allure of Disney only proves people are emotional idiots who think with their emotions. We want and follow what we think is cool and others say is. I mean for all that money you are doing mostly waits or at best enjoying a purely artificial fantasy which is based on characters that your kids may not may not truly care about. They are entertainment characters. You could be learning seeing taking in any other place in the world but yeah, gotta mix in an overpriced overcrowded amusement park. Got it. And this is why DH and I joke that aliens may be out there but they may want earths resources but not to hang with us irrational idiots!!!!

DP. No need to justify anything to DCUM mean girls (or guys). Who cares what's cool? My teen DD went with some friends last summer, and they had an absolute blast, with Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind being their favorite ride of all time. They also loved Flight of Passage, Tron, plus the usuals - Expedition Everest, etc. One thing that Disney has going for it is that there's more available for those who don't like the biggest coasters (which my kids don't) and the fireworks are great (minus the current Epcot offering).

I understand why some people hate the crowds and ridiculous cost of Disney. I could never stay in the parks for an entire day, and if I had to, I'd hate it too. While not a Disney regular, I've gone enough to realize that those who go more regularly have a better experience than those who are one and done because there is less pressure to pack everything in, regardless of crowds or heat.

You think you’re so intelligent, and yet your post is absolutely riddled with grammatical errors.

We also know how to use the app to optimize our experience.

We go a lot and never wait more than 15 minutes for anything.

Multiple people were complaining about the app this week. It's not consistent. My problem with Disney is that it's simply not elite enough. I pay all this money and still get to mingle with the average joe. That's not for me.
Spent the equivalent dollars on a vacation overseas last year and it was great. Not a lot of people and first class experience all the way.
But if you like Disney and it's your scence then go do it!

It was expensive, yes, but that wasn't a surprise and shouldn't shock anybody who is paying attention. And it certainly wasn't perfect, but I didn't expect it to be because I'm not a fool.

OP - I think it's kind of a shame that you ranted to your kid about the cost and experience of something they apparently enjoyed. I try to keep my kids relatively informed about the costs of things just to keep them grounded, but I try to avoid doing so in a way that conveys that I think we wasted money on something the liked.

I didn't rant at them. I just let them know that I thought there was better value to be had elsewhere. I don't think there is an issue with that. We waste money travel sports that's the real crime. The fees and my Saturday morning to watch talentless kids play a game I don't care about. But that I keep to myself.

Imagine thinking it's some sort of brag to post that your kids are so concerned about social status that they'd "die of embarrassment" going to a theme park where they're totally anonymous.

I'm grateful that my kids are comfortable enough in their own skin to enjoy what they like without worrying that their peers will judge them.

PP here. Fair enough. And agreed on travel sports.

Imagine thinking it is some sort of brag to post about how you are a Disney Adult and your teenage boys are turning into Disney Adults too.

Charges.

Same I know a family that spends close to 20K per year at Disney. I don't get it.

When we were stationed in Germany with the military we knew some families that never went anywhere on their vacation but euro Disney. No Paris, no louvre. Weird.
