Northeastern is a joke that is declining quickly.

Catholic family here. Catholic schools all the way through grad school. Still have a couple in the late grade school years. Prep isn't what it used to be. The k-8 matriculation is weak compared to other area Catholic schools. The college outcomes are not on par with other privates, or publics for anyone comparing. It is not an anti-catholic issue. It's the school. Lots of people see through the presentation and polish, know the past is past, and correctly place it is as the weakest of area independent schools. Country club campus. Sub-standard school.

Prep starts in 9th grade idiot.

Yea they like to play games with rankings. It’s a total farce.

I’m assuming they meant matriculation from k8 into Prep but who knows.

Having said that, I don’t think one purely enrolls their kids in a private school because of college matriculation. The families we know who have boys at GP have been very happy with the school. Not sure why GP isn’t much liked on this forum.

Completely untrue.

It sometimes IS easier depending on the school, but competition among international schools at the top universities and colleges is extremely fierce. I would certainly not dismiss the achievements of these international boys at GP who got into Duke, JHU, Tufts, etc. They are living away from their families in a foreign culture speaking (and clearly getting good grades in) a completely different language, AND excelling. That's a tremendous accomplishment.

*among international students, not schools

Right? We are planning for our 7th grader to apply to Prep next year. We know a few families there who speak so highly of the school and have been very happy. Somehow though, the school is not as favorably regarded on this forum … is there anything we are missing or need to know ?

Listen to the people you know and have calibrated. Don’t listen to the nitwits on here, all of them with agendas and biases and no real understanding of the school, the student body, the staff or the alumni.

Yeah, I've read about it here, but had never heard of it until DCUM.

I'm not a troll. I've just never heard of Northeastern, probably because I'm from the Midwest. My kids are in Catholic school, so...

College matric is down at GP because of Kavanaugh. Liberal colleges don't like what GP "stands for"...

It seems like there are a LOT of international kids?

No kidding. You must be a prep grad. Your attitude is terrible and reading comprehension pathetic. Go back and try again. As you will note, the k-8 matriculation into prep is weak. It explains the difference in college outcomes.

Our families real life experience was poor. Would not get involved with GP if I had to do it over.

Absolutely. Plus GP currently has two alumni on the Supreme Court. Fabulous place to get an education

The school is not what it used to be. You can't live in the past.

They are not down. Very few have been posted. Just wait. You'll see. The matriculations will be stronger than the other Catholics, Sidwell (Quaker), even Bullis (no religious affiliation/roots) which had an unusually strong year this particular year.
