I would never send my kid to a 3000+ student, dangerous public high school where kids have to jump on each other like werewolves for basic opportunities.

This is so on point. GP parents are into the marketing and the brand name feel. It is the lux market appeal rather than the education they are after. GP nows this and admits accordingly. The college acceptances reflect this marketing strategy. This is their brand at it's best. PP you are their direct market. That does not make it an elite school with elite outcomes. It makes it...well...a great fit for you.

I said it before and will say it again. The small number of posts on this account aren't enough to evaluate a school's matriculations. Wait a week or so and then take a look. I am not a Prep parent, but I have seen prior years' info, and it is always impressive.

Typical instagram propaganda- post the best and hide reality. Let’s see where the bottom 50% of the class matriculates. I suspect the GP’s reality is the same as any other school … community college and schools with 80% acceptance rates.

UMC White & Asian; PP is talking about the RMIB test-in magnet program.

Catholic universities. The other catholic HS, granted they have more postings, don’t seem to send most of their kids to Catholic universities.

A large percentage of GP grads do go to Catholic colleges. There are frequently family connections to these schools. The Catholic colleges give weight to Catholic high schools (especially the Jesuits). And the kids find these Catholic colleges feel very comfortable to them.

For a Jesuit HS I am familiar with (not in the DC area), if you graduate from it, you supposedly get additional merit aid just for doing so from 2nd/3rd tier Catholic universities, and a significant advantage in admissions at top Catholic universities.

Anyone else think this was a troll post? Seems weird that a GP parent would be on here with only ~ 6 students posting, to mostly Catholic colleges.
Not a hater- at another Catholic school and would love it if DC went to any of these schools.

Same RM is a much better option.

Is there where we point out that RM chooses its students from across a county with a million residents?

I don’t have a kid at either school, but RM has had at least three incidents this year involving guns on campus. Outside tge IB program, tge academics and teaching quality are weak (relatives attend the school). I would much prefer GO to RM if I had boys, regardless of college matriculation.

This is a weird thread. The insta linked is the school's insta, not a class of 2023 page run by students, and it looks like Prep is posting in small batches in alphabetical order. With just the A last names and probably only some of the B's posted thus far, it is a very small sample of the class. Not sure why the OP felt the need to say "huge wow factors" when it was a handful of kids who've been posted- you kind of set it up for criticism OP (but maybe that was your intent?)

I suspect OP is a troll. Plain and simple.

Did it explicitly say they commute? GP has boarders.

No, I don’t think they will distinguish boarders. However, there are plenty who commute from VA, including the young man from South Riding.

I’m sure he boards.

I know him, he does not.

If you do know him - shame on you for posting about a specific child that you know.
