There were no clues as to who was hit? I didn’t notice anything specific. |
You’re such a dork with your “power move” fantasies. Let the people from State and…everyone else take over. Go hit that Nordie’s sale rack for your next #realbosswitch shift with the tummy control panel, our secret. |
I liked this show - found Kate's character interesting - the only character who annoyed me was Hal and I thought that was intentional (and he was doing a good job at it) and that he was supposed to be a much older husband know it all - from the comments here looks like maybe that wasn't their intent
I thought the cast was great, the staff at the embassy match the vibe of a west wing/grey's team collab. which is what i thought they were trying to do and where the people who put this together came from. The night Manager was a short mini-series from a John LeCarre book which is much darker |
I enjoyed the show but Keri's hair was such a distraction. I get that her character wasn't into looks but she couldn't at least brush it? It looked unprofessional.
And the red dress at the end looked so sexy on the hanger but once on her looked like a shapeless drape. Awful. |
So people from State who are married to high-power ambassadors are too clueless to wash and brush their and they pitch a literal fit when confronted with an event that warrants dressing up and/or interacting with people? Riiiiiiiiiiggghhhhttttt. Here’s the thing about DC: most of us know people in these positions IRL. These people absolutely know how to behave. Nobody is showing up to a meeting in London with unwashed hair or dirty clothes. There’s no need to compare Keri’s character to lower level people at State in other posts. |
Was prepared to not like it, but binged all 8 eps.
Yes, the plot is completely unrealistic, but it brings the fast-paced drama and complex relationships! Although I’m annoyed about the reveal of the bad guy in the finale (come on, really!!!), I’m here for season 2 if it happens! |
I really enjoyed this show. I don't watch my intelligence/spy/detective shows for their realism, lol! |
+1 I hate the “I’ll wait poster.” They are so annoying. |
Night Manager is coming back! I've been checking for years for season 2! |
Only three episodes in, so I'm posting without reading because I don't want to be spoiled, but:
This show is really fun and funny while also being very engaging. It pulls me in and makes me laugh a bit, and I find myself really liking all the characters, even in their flaws. Like the British PM is the only one I don't really like, and even he is funny at times. Everyone else is great, from the super serious house manager to Hal to the American president, to Katherine. I have been burned out on TV lately and not watching much (just bailing on shows and letting DH watch on his own because I don't care) but this one is a not-guilty pleasure and I'll be sad when we finish it. |
The fact she couldn't go into the bathroom and use soap and water on a washcloth before putting on the deoderant...and her husband sniffing her crotch?? If he could smell it through her pants she had to absolutely reek. At some point that day she could have taken a 5 min shower even if she didn't wash her hair. The hygiene was so gross--but very European ![]() |
I only have watched the first episode. But that's the point that was made the ENTIRE first episode---even she was like 'wth am I on the call...I'm not supposed to be doing this...there is a pecking order...blah..blah..blah. The President wants her as VP and wants the Foreign service in Brit to screen her and watch her. They explicitly said this. So, yes, nothing is like what is "normal" in these circles. They even said this post is usually for rich donors to the campaign who bring their own expensive art and have tea parties, it's ceremonial, etc. |
Finished it. Was waiting the whole 8 episodes to see Kate with at least washed hair. Alas, they wouldn't even throw us a bone. It was fine the first 1-2 episodes, but then it just got so distractingly, aggressively stringy and unkempt, that it became its own character.
Spoiler: I think Kate's call to Roilyn got the MP killed. And Kate was teary b/c she realized what had happened and her role in it. |
This show doesn't know what it wants to be. It wants to be a dramedy but its like they just tried to slap together a sitcom and a drama. I would have liked it more if the humor had been more intelligent and woven more naturally into the scenes than the nonsense they did. I love the guy who plays the PM and he was amazing in Years and Years. I suppose he's doing this to pay for college or a vacation home or something. As for the "cliffhanger" - I think they overestimated how invested people might be in this show. I'm not dying to know who died. |
Why would someone bomb Grove’s car after he talked to Hal? |
