They are still there---have amazing noodle dish with shrimp that no other place has. There was a great Malaysian place on 18th called Straits of Malaya---also with a great roof deck. And the original Lauriol Plaza in the small location at 18th & S. And remember Tom Tom on 18th? Il Radicchio on 17th was great. Galileo and Obelisk on P Street---both excellent.

Thai is still there?
How about Sushiko?

Sushiko was in glover park during the Clinton era. It was closed long ago because they owed 600k city tax. There is still a fancy one in Chevy chase, not sure if it was always there or moved from the city.

I thought I remembered that the ChCh Sushiko opened before the Glover Park one closed, but this article says otherwise: https://boundarystones.weta.org/2022/10/21/first-sushi-spot-washington-dc In any case, the Glover Park closure/ChCh opening was 2012, which is very recent in my books. The new one is in a space that didn't exist all that long ago (that curvy building with the parking lot out back).

Spike & Mike's Festival of Animation (original flavor and Sick & Twisted), if we're talking the one on Florida between Dupont & Adams Morgan. There was another, though, yes? Which then reminds me of Potomac Video...

Coffee shop open late on the corner of 22nd & P (Soho?).

Subs at Mr. P's (I think, or maybe that's just what we called it) on the south side of P a bit closer to the circle.

A really good Japanese restaurant (from before those were really a thing) on the west side of Connecticut just below S.

Still there! But not open late.

Standing outside where Evan’s was- boarded up- sad. Wonderful place. Right next to Cafe Citron - which I also remember, right next door. All great spots are GONE - area is far less interesting than it was in late 1980’s-early 1990’s- city is perhaps bit safer - def more $$ - not many fun joints anymore. Gentrification!

Correct.

Those are the places I spent most of my first post-college years here in DC! The memories....

There were 3 movie theaters in Dupont in the mid-late 90's - the one right on the circle at the top of the Metro. One a few blocks up CT Ave on the West side, maybe R street? And then one on Florida Ave.

One of them had columns that would block your view. It was like you were sitting in a high school classroom.

My first job after college was in an office in the upstairs of The Big Hunt.
