OMG, Anna Maria’s! Not sure it’s what OP was thinking of, but that sign was classic!

Loved Anna Maria’s! I was a student at GW from 96-00 and that was my special place with my college boyfriend.

They are still there---have amazing noodle dish with shrimp that no other place has. There was a great Malaysian place on 18th called Straits of Malaya---also with a great roof deck. And the original Lauriol Plaza in the small location at 18th & S. And remember Tom Tom on 18th? Il Radicchio on 17th was great. Galileo and Obelisk on P Street---both excellent.

Thai is still there?
How about Sushiko?

Spike & Mike's Festival of Animation (original flavor and Sick & Twisted), if we're talking the one on Florida between Dupont & Adams Morgan. There was another, though, yes? Which then reminds me of Potomac Video...

Coffee shop open late on the corner of 22nd & P (Soho?).

Subs at Mr. P's (I think, or maybe that's just what we called it) on the south side of P a bit closer to the circle.

A really good Japanese restaurant (from before those were really a thing) on the west side of Connecticut just below S.

There was a very famous French Restaurant called Le Lion D'or. It wasn't at Dupont it was on Conn I think nearer to K ST. It you went there without a coat and tie they would give you one to wear. It has been gone for many years now.

Funny, in a very DC moment, I remember seeing Cokie Roberts the last time I had lunch there.

Luigis’s wasn’t in DuPont. It was near Rumors in what was considered the DC business district at the time. Fantastic pizza!

There was a small Italian place in the basement of a townhouse just off Connecticut in DuPont. It had a red or brown awning. I think that is the place OP may be thinking of.

Sushiko was in glover park during the Clinton era. It was closed long ago because they owed 600k city tax. There is still a fancy one in Chevy chase, not sure if it was always there or moved from the city.

We went there! Felt very grown up.

Same era as Yannick Cam's at the Watergate. I still remember the carrot soup there.

Does anyone remember the Daquiri Factory? Liked that place until I saw a roach. . .
