Dupont Circle 30 years ago

Anonymous
this isn't political--its personal. My father passed away and I am trying to recall some of the places we used to go in Dupont circle about thirty years ago. First place was an Italian restaurant on the basement level. My best guess is this was towards the Foggy Bottom side of the circle. We also ate at a very very fancy French restaurant in a standalone white townhouse. this was probably more like 35 years ago nad was probably not in Dupont.

There was an old school Italian place that predated all the places mentioned, it had a head on the sign if I remember correctly. There was also Pines of Rome, or something like that.

So Front Page, Buffalo Billiards, The Big Hunt, and Brickskeller are all gone?

OMG, Anna Maria’s! Not sure it’s what OP was thinking of, but that sign was classic!

If the very fancy French restaurant wasn't in Dupont, it might have been Rive Gauche at Wisc. and M. The building was white, or at least light-colored, back in the day.
