| Schedules are out now too, for those of you worried about which pools you might have to visit. |
We just declined membership this week - we applied late summer 2014. We have been at our current middle division pool for 5 years and it’s a great fit for our kids who just want to have fun. |
DH is 6-7 years now and mainly pulls from Bluemont, Dominion Hills, and Madison Manor. It’s $1000 to join and $950 per year. You can transfer membership with a home sale, same as Overlee. It’s a small, older pool with lots of young families and a fun swim team. |
That is a long time to wait for a membership. I would think that you would have to sign up when you get married (or before) and then you might be ready to join when your kids are 7. That is a lot of planning. |
Arlington Forest has a $3300 buy-in. Not even Overlee is $10k https://arlingtonforestclub.org/membership/ |
Funny you should say that! We signed up for a bunch of pools when I was pregnant with our oldest on the advice of a co-worker. I submitted my Overlee application at the same time as daycare applications. We got a summer rental at our current pool after 3 years and full membership at 5 years. Now the lists are 7-9 years. I wonder at some point if there will be a lack of 8&U swimmers in Arlington or if there will always be enough younger siblings. |
Odds are you are correct but we have established that Overlee does not recruit. |
Don't discount the very real value of real estate transfer. Usually, it's an older family moving away and a young family coming in. |
Dang. I hope it’s nice. Ours is less than $700 to join as a permanent member and there are no other dues costs the first year. |
…and not even close to forming a waitlist. |
+1 We did not pay 10k!! |
Its a one time fee, not per summer! |
| One thing not mentioned is that many of the really good Overlee swimmers have parents who swam at youth/college... so they knew to get on the list early. Like when they moved to the neighborhood before kids. |
DP That still sounds like a lot for one time. |
Really? You get access to tennis all year. |
