The media was negligent on Santos and Fetterman. But for different reasons. They didn’t do due diligence on Santos because they didn’t think a Republican could win that seat. They didn’t do their due diligence on Fetterman because they didn’t WANT a Republican to win that seat. On paper Oz was such an objectively better candidate than Fetterman, even before these stroke. Sure he was a carpetbagger, but there’s a long tradition of that in the Senate.

Oz is a forced birther. Fetterman is not. That was a huge issue in the mid terms and will continue to be a very significant issue. If ore it if you must but you are ignoring reality .

I mean “on paper” Dr. Oz went on TV and said he should have the same right as a woman or a doctor to make a choice about abortion, so no I’m not buying he was the “objectively better candidate” running in a state where most people believe abortion should be legal in most or all cases (per Pew) in the year Roe fell.

…and he failed. Rape rates remain the same, prosecution rates are dismal.

The govt needs to multitask. Women's rights need to be returned. This is a critical issue that drove a lot of voting in the mid terms and forced birthers were kept out of office.

Crime, gun control and other safety issues are also very important. They did not impact the mid term elections to the same extent as reproductive rights issue.

This is why we have elections. It seems clear the reporductive rights are a winning election issue but the republicans refuse to cultivate and run pro choice candidates.

When Greg Abbott made ending rape in Texas his stated #1 priority it had no impact on rape in Texas. He’s no Democrat.
