I find this whole discussion really weird. Probably everyone here would want their airplane pilot to step down and be replaced until/unless s/he made a full recovery. But so many people seem to take offense to the idea that maybe Fetterman should step down for a replacement.
It's like we don't think the business of government is very important. OR that we all tacitly believe the politicians we elect aren't the ones actually setting the agenda in DC. Either way, it's disturbing to me. Smacks of such deep pessimism! |
| Remind me again why the Democrats didn’t nominate the 37 year old congressman and former Marine who could have held this seat for a generation? |
Just not as terrible as electing Dr. Oz. |
And making the same arguments that failed during the actual election doesn't make you smart. |
You're either lying, or delusional. The Washington Post, to name only one example, Went. To. Town on Fetterman during the campaign. |
Wut? https://www.inquirer.com/opinion/editorials/john-fetterman-us-senate-pennsylvania-endorsement-2022-20221016.html |
And yet the new Democratic governor absolutely obliterated the insane Republican candidate. |
Newsflash: the Washington Post and the Philadelphia Inquirer are different. |
It’s politics. I’m pretty sure most of the folks on this board insisting fetterman should not step down would reverse their position 180 degrees if fetterman were a Republican. But he’s a dem, so it’s all ok doncha know. |
Did you have a crystal ball that would show that the relatively young Fetterman wouod have a stroke that would contribute to a crippling depression ? Fetterman had (has?) a ton of charisma and a “I would like to have a beer with they guy” vibe that’s really appealing. Conor Lamb has a lot of potential too. He could run again. |
+1. They’re also conveniently ignoring they many of the octogenarians and septegenarians in the senate have had major health issues? (Cancer, strokes, dementia etc) I would bet that Fetterman is average in comparison to health struggles of the average senator |
There’s actually a republican who can’t attend congress right now because he’s stuck at home recently released from the hospital. Can you point me to all the posts calling on him to resign? |
I find your analogy really weird. The job of senator and pilot are nothing alike. |
Because primary voters chose Fetterman by an overwhelming margin. |

What exactly does he get in a hospital bed that he could not get at home with 24/7 RN care? Peace and quiet from everyone telling him he’s good to go back to work. |
