| At Walter Reed. Story coming out now |
| It’s good that he’s getting care. He will be a great senator. |
| He was just released from the hospital last Friday. Not sure that "depression" is the right diagnosis. |
|
Who wouldn’t be depressed in his shoes! After the sh*tty political attacks and beyond dysfunctional Congress after having a stroke. I feel really bad for him.
|
Agree. Anyone paying attention right now is depressed. And it’s going to be worse if trump is back in politics. |
|
You people are sick.
Haven't heard of post stroke depression? It is literally an after effect because of the trauma to the brain. |
| I thought, based on the whole debate and interview with subtitles that he could hear but had slow processing speed. Sadly, it seems much more than that. I think he should resign and focus on his health. Pennsylvania must have a process for relecting or appointing a senator. Even if there is an election, my guess is that a democrat would win so it seems like the best course. |
First, no I hadn’t heard of that so it is something I am just learning about. Second, the few people I have known who had strokes of any severity never recovered fully and were significantly diminished in their abilities. By all accounts, Fetterman’s stroke wasn’t mild. So his decision to push ahead was a bit shocking to me given what I have seen with family and friends who can barely get the mail or type an email, never mind be a Senator. |
| Post stroke depression and post heart attack depression are really common. Surprised more people on this thread don't know about it. I have relatives who went through this. |
“While John has experienced depression off and on throughout his life, it only became severe in recent weeks.” |
|
Both Senators from PA are out now.
Bob Casey just had surgery for prostate cancer. |
Stroke. Depression. What's next, dementia? |
A senator should be able to serve fully. Not part-time, not in a few months after therapy, not in the future. They should be able to help govern at this very moment and I’m sure this will drag out with him for months if not years. Don’t give me he needs time to recover/sympathy crap. Do it at home with your family and not while you are serving in the Senate.. |
+1 yup. There’s a quote from a stroke expert saying it happens to 1/3 of patients. Good for him for normalizing and speaking publicly about a deadly disease. Get well soon big guy. |
