Wow really?! I hadn’t read about this.

He has a daughter from a previous relationship with a reality-show actress. He is not a part of the kid’s life and she was not invited to the wedding.

Ugh this is so gross.

“The people who this story matters to have known about it for 10 years. Carter supports this child. While he does not have a traditional father-daughter relationship with her, he has provided for her since she was born, and will continue to do so,” said a spokesperson for Reum.”

He clearly has the finances to ensure he had rights to see his child. That he doesn’t is sad. Seems like he didn’t want this child.

Even if he didn’t want her she exists now. It’s messed up and I have no respect for him.

Is a shitty involved father better than no father involved?

Wait what? A father who bows out is a shitty father.

You can’t make someone be a parent. I was responding to PP’s comment about the daughter existing whether he wanted her or not. So my question is the guy clearly didn’t want the kid. If he was forced to be in her life is it better to have a father involved that’s shitty to your face because he didn’t want you. Or is it better if this person is never in your life?

It’s better if he’s not a POS and cares for his child. He should have gotten a therapist, sorted out his regret over not wearing a condom, and then raised his kid in a loving way. There’s no such thing as “forcing” a parent to be in the child’s life so I have no idea where you’re even going with that. But I have absolutely no respect for him.

Women need to understand that men having sex with them does not mean that they want to father a child. Women need to be in BC and insist that the man should wear a condom. Otherwise? Bye bye baby!

So I guess you don’t like the idea of child support.

NP. Personally, I think men need to be held accountable for every penny of child support, but you can't expect them to be fathers in anything other than finances if they don't want to be. As long as he made his intentions clear to not be a parent but to keep cutting the checks til 18, he's fine. If that was not ok with her, she could choose to not have the child.

+1

+2. Don't feel sorry for his oldest daughter. She doesn't know life with her biological father. It probably isn't a big loss. She's old enough to realize he isn't the greatest and that she isn't missing anything by having him in her life. She may have other father figures she enjoys more.

There are many different types of families out there. Fatherless ones included. It just is what it is. This girl may not be pining away from the father she never had.

Just keep the money rolling in.
Hmm I can't tell if you're with a guy who acts like this or a woman raising a child in the same situation trying to reason that your kid is ok. It would take a saint to not be at least a little upset that you're bio dad is gushing about becoming a dad as if he isn't one already. He just picks and chooses when it counts.

Neither of those scenarios. I am an adult whose parents separated when I was around 1 or 2. My father was really not around. You could say I grew up without a father - he definitely wasn't influential in my life. He didn't even provide regular child support.

I wouldn't classify my family situation as bad. It just was. There was also no need to feel sorry for my family situation as a kid. I didn't know any better. I didn't know what it was like to have a father in the household. Like I said, it was just normal to me.

NP and I like the perspective you take here but I would imagine having this be in the news would make it hard for many kids who were abandoned by a parent. I have seen something like this as a teacher (one kid found out another at school had the same father, first kid the father never saw, other kid father was a part of their life) and it was really hard for the kid.

Barron is such an ugly name I think it should have been left out. Especially because two of the other names are her choice.

Why did she use a surrogate? I guess she didn't want to ruin her figure. Surrogacy should not be allowed for vanity.

She’s said she’s on a plane 250 days of the year. She probably didn’t want to slow down.

For what purpose? Going to parties?
It's not like she does anything of value.

365-250=115, 50 of which are spent shopping, leaving 65 days, 52 days for beauty salon for hair. Facial, Mani/pedi. This leaves 13 days per year for her to play at being mommy. She probably sleeps until 10 am, getting showered and dressed takes 2 to 3 hours, lunch 90 minutes. She should be free to play with Barron Phoenix Berlin Manchester from 2 p.m. to 3:30p.m. but, drat it all, this is his nap time!

+1 Those of us who work with kids know what many of them are experiencing.

You guys don’t know much.

Herpes can be contained very effectively these days. It is not the horrific ordeal it used to be. When you don’t have an outbreak, you are at very little risk of spreading it to your partner. Outbreaks are contained well with medication. I know many people with herpes and lots of them have had children vaginally.

"Very little risk" isn't good enough for me.

Is anyone buying her fear of pregnancy and childbirth stemmed from her time at Provo, which is why she used a surrogate?
