The issue which they are trying to address is which group would the trans kids go with. Well if they combine genders they don’t have to worry about it. |
Yep. I don’t doubt at all this is the cause. |
Agree as well - though I see the PP's point. If you're going to talk about it at all, the entire subject needs to be covered (positives and negatives). Which is why it shouldn't be a part of FLE at all. DP |
DP. So they should make the vast majority of kids extremely uncomfortable in order that a tiny percentage of trans kids feel comfortable? No. Sorry. |
I agree with this. I was just explaining why I think they are trying to move to combining genders. I don’t support it at all. |
The trans kids who don't want to go with biological gender should do what the religious kids do and opt out. They don't change the program to accomodate conservative muslims, or traditional catholics. They should not change the program to accomodate a potential transgendered family that wants their kid to go with a different gender. |
Unfortunately they already have. Girls at FCPS have lost their right to private spaces in bathrooms, shower and changing areas and overnight trips, as well as their own category in sports. Unfortunately, Title IX, which protects the rights of a student to have an educational environment free from sex-based discrimination, no longer exist on the principles it was created for. How about the rights of girls not to have boys present when intrinsic biological changes are being taught? Or boys, not to have theirs described in front of girls? After all, these are kids we are talking about. Although, come to think about it, unless we (the adults) are in the field of medicine, we wouldn’t feel comfortably having these discussions in front of our coworkers of the opposite sex either. Unfortunately, this isn’t about making the 0.01 percent of students comfortable at school, this feels more like some male adults imposing their radical gender ideology and agenda on our kids. What is next FCPS, transvestite shows at school? |
I would even prefer trans kids to get to choose which gender's session to attend. Letting this very small population opt out or attend either gender's FLE should be sufficient, rather than combining everyone and lowering the quality of the dissemination of this important information. |

No, next will be drag queen story hour at FCPS. |
DP. Surprised it hasn’t happened yet. This was last year at the McLean Library. Glad to see some actual drag queens saying what a bad idea it is. It boggles the mind that anyone would think this is healthy for kids to see. https://www.fairfaxtimes.com/articles/drag-storybook-hour-gets-mixed-reviews/article_70635b4c-e575-11eb-9bd1-076bb587b678.html |
Oh boy… let’s hope that won’t be the case! This story in McLean, VA encompasses pretty match the Orwellian setting that - after watching the FCPS School Board meetings and where their priorities stand - leaves no doubt the new changes in the FLE lessons can replicate the same reaction and confusion from young kids at schools as it did in this story: https://www.tfp.org/how-one-drag-storybook-hour-protest-changed-mclean-virginia/ |

My child says the trans kids can choose which gender to attend for fle. |
Why can't one FLE curriculum teach what boys, girls, trans, experience in the same class? I was an awkward middle schooler and I honestly don't understand why it need to be "taught" separately. In a large-class public school environment, kids don't ask their most private questions anyway. It's not a "safe space," support group of close individuals amyway...it's public school HPE class. If kids want more info they're going to ask a trusted adult (or their peers - scary but true) anyway. |
