The White Lotus season 2

What about the phone call the movie produced made to his wife? I was dying laughing.

1. Cameron - the douchey college friend in the orange short - is a sexual predator. When he leaves the table to follow Daphne to the hotel room, his wife makes an uncomfortable and pained face. Cameron explicitly gets upset when Harper mentions that she handles sexual harassment cases. Further, he mentions that he can easily recognize the prostitutes working the dining room.

2. Actually I think both Cameron and his wife, Daphne, may be con artists who are targeting the newly rich couple, Ethan and Harper. We know that they have recently reconnected their friendship after some sort of lapse. Cameron and his wife brag about taking helicopters to the Hamptons and being friends with Bezos, they talk a big game and are not discreet. Further, they have been waiting a year to go on the trip to Italy with Ethan and Harper (the trip seemed to hinge on Harper & Ethan making time to go). They are trying to make themselves appear to be rich, perhaps to try to lure in Ethan as an investor for Cameron’s (troubled?) company.

Based on the preview for next week, we know that Daphne takes the lead in separating the wives from the husbands. At which point, Cameron and Ethan meet the prostitutes and party with them. My guess is that Cameron wants to try to get Ethan in a compromising situation in order to blackmail him; this reminds me a lot of how Jeffrey Epstein operated. Cameron already tried to seduce Harper in the swimsuit changing scene (“How does it look on me? I think it might be a bit snug” *flexes abs and blocks bathroom doorway*), but she didn’t fall for it.

3. The only two people in episode 1 to get caught in the gaze of the Sicilian head statues are Ethan and Tanya. There are long scenes where they stare at the statues. This is some sort of foreshadowing. I believe it’s because they are wealthy, a bit naive, and being targeted. Harper is being protective of Ethan and clearly doesn’t trust Cameron and Daphne. Similarly, I think Tanya’s assistant - Portia - is likely protective and that’s why Tanya’s husband is so pissed that she’s around; whatever he has planned, Portia’s presence disrupts.

So glad I watched episode 1 a second time. There were a lot of details I missed.

Wow… great observations! I didn’t think about some of this when I watched it, but your arguments make sense (especially no 3).

I wonder where the other family fits into all of this..

I tried to make mention of it earlier in the thread, but yes, this needs to be discussed.

Real or prosthetic?

How did you find a spoiler? Post the link.

Don't you dare post a link! PP you know how to google, you go find it on your own. Most of us don't like or appreciate spoilers.

Here’s a link to the spoiler, I’ve used a “link shortner” so the URL doesn’t reveal anything.

https://tinyurl.com/36t979p2

Like the PP said, have some self control if you don’t want to read a spoiler!

Is this link correct? This doesn't seem to have anything to do with White Lotus.

Anonymous wrote:What does everyone think of the swimsuit-changing screen? I predict that the husband was purposely pushing boundaries. This is open to interpretation, but I took the dialogue about workplace claims to mean sexual harassment claims against him. People like that often act subtly in the beginning, with a keen sense of exactly how much they can push while keeping the target unsure whether anything objectionable happened.

Yes, I actually think the reason that that the douchy couple invited the tech guy & his employment lawyer wife is not to get in on the tech guy's money, but to approach the employment lawyer about helping with some kind of sexual harassment scandal.

I think prosthetic but that was crazy

Harper is the worst. What a crabby Debbie Downer. I can’t stand people like her.

I think I replayed a few times.

But yes, I absolutely think it was deliberate.

I have to admit that the Aubrey Plaza character hit a little close to home re: "you don't watch the news, etc." I'm not nearly as uptight as she is, but I have often wondered if I could just care about the news/current events less and how that would feel.

I think this will be a good season.

I don’t anymore. I stopped after Jan 6 and nothing happened to the Orange Menace. Hearing about his crimes and obnoxiousness all the time make me do crazy mad.

I have no idea what is going on in this midterm election and I don’t care. Feels good actually.

I stopped reading WaPo and NYTimes when trump got elected since mass media was obsessed. I’ll glimpse to take a pulse of the integrity.

Simultaneously, mass media became 90% OpEds to rile everyone up- nutjob headlines, cherry-picked data, omitted key facts, assumptions & speculation galore. Got tons of clicks and nutjob comments for sure.

I still have to read over Bloomberg, FT, tech news and WSJ daily for work. The OpEds are still laughable but at least there are less and they’re not posing as “news.”
