Elisa Silverman found guilty of violating campaign finance rules with Ward 3 poll

I never liked her after a run in with her office. She was more concerned with herself and barely addressed my concerns. Hopefully, she will be removed. Someone with better constituent services is needed.

I wonder if this will follow her even if she wins. She may want to suspend her campaign.

Are you kidding? This is a nothingburger. The fact that her opponents are trying to make a mountain out of this molehill shows how difficult it is to oppose her on policy grounds.

Anita Bonds is a very nice, but ineffective Council Member. She has done absolutely nothing. McDuffie didn't even want to be on the Council anymore and has decided to sell his services to the highest bidder. He has very little to show for his time on the Council. Silverman, in contrast, is responsible for the most family-friendly legislation in memory. Those who oppose family leave have tried everything to get rid of her. It seems they have decided that a minor rule violation that may well be overturned on appeal is their best chance. That is really sad.

They are trying to "but her emails" Elissa.

Normal politics. Others did this to Goulet, too.

No. Goulet did exactly what was alleged. And was caught on tape doing it. OCF just took his Bart Simpson “I didn’t do it” routine as an easy way out from having to find against him because of incontrovertible evidence. That saga ain’t over yet.

Of the various Councilmembers I’ve interacted with, Elissa was certainly not the most impressive. However, she has an achievement in paid family leave. I think she will win, but primarily because she is listed first on a very long ballot.

A lot of people are not impressed with Silverman’s behavior in this matter, including Cheh. She could help herself out a lot by accepting the ruling and acknowledging that it was a mistake.

Sanctimonious much?

Ask Mary Cheh if she was taking actions behinds the scenes during the redistricting process, or was that just a rogue chief of staff…?

Term limits.

We don’t owe these people jobs for life.

Wait so you are saying the guy that OCF says didn't do anything wrong is the REAL problem, and the person that the OCF found doing something actually wrong is a nothingburger?

See, so....politics.

Ben Bergman, Henry Cohen, Tricia Duncan, Beau Finley, and Matt Frumin share a lot of the blame with Elissa for dragging it out as long as they did and not figuring out a mechanism to narrow the field and consolidate around a single candidate. And Mary Cheh deserves a share of it to for being so aloof to the whole process. The election of a candidate that only about a third of the ward actually wanted would not have been good for the ward or the city. The likes of Eric Goulet, Mary Cheh and all of Elissa’s detractors and opponents can throw around big words like “interference”, “collusion”, and “integrity” as much as they want, but anyone who claims they would have preferred an electoral outcome that defied the expressed preferences of voters don’t have the best interests of those voters at heart.

This one is far from over. Goulet is dead to rights and OCF is going to come out looking terribly lazy, inept, or corrupt. I have no knowledge about which it is.

Has anyone appealed the Goulet ruling or requested reconsideration? He’s was found innocent and that door appears to be closed. But keep hope alive!

In the meantime, Karim Marshall, who had been directly harmed, has requested reconsideration of the ruling on coordination and also referral to the FEC and DOJ.

Racine has nervously jumped in to say that the Feds won’t take it up, but that’s a lot of smoke and I suspect Racine knows that Silverman had legal exposure

Both Bergman and Duncan's campaigns were on fumes. Neither of them had any traction in the race. The idea that Silverman had to work to get them out is BS. They both knew they were not viable.
