You mean the thing that OFC investigated and ruled was not illegal? That DFER thing?

No, outside DFER money influencing our city elections.

Was DFER a candidate that took public money and then used it to try and influence an election that they were not running in? Is that what you are alleging?

You really should read the ruling. OCF did no investigation. They simply took Goulet's word that he didn't cheat despite him being on the recording saying that he did.

OCF is a joke.

DFER invested 1.2 million dollars to subvert the DC Fair Election program with hidden money from unknown sources. It is counter to the tenants of democracy, but it is what drives the GOP, so I can see why you are being obtuse about this.

You are the one being obtuse. DFER did not break the law. Silverman did break the law.

OCF does not say Silverman broke the law. They simply said that the public funding for that specific poll was against their rules.

Slightly off the main thread of people yelling at each other:

Why didn't the minor candidates run polls themselves? It only cost $6k. Why was Silverman's intervention necessary at all?

Silverman’s poll was very late to the game. The candidates were already consolidating. But some of them were playing chicken, hoping the others would drop first and they wouldn’t have to themselves.

One reporter (nameless here for now) heard about it in early/mid May and made some phone calls about it. Of course, everyone denied they were considering dropping, but they were actually answer the letter of the question and not the spirit of it.

The minor candidates didn't have the money and they were all refusing to drop out. Silverman was worried that (gasp!) a mainstream Democrat might win the race if they didnt drop out so she paid for a poll showing Goulet was going to win if they didnt quit. Shortly after the poll, three of the progressive candidates all dropped out and backed Frumin.

They didn't have enough money to run such a poll. Both of their campaigns were dead in the water, which is why they were seeking the endorsement to help boost them.

You are almost there. The funding financing rules are dictated by and implement what? When you answer that question, you will have figured it out.

Well, she is an Independent.

I still think she will cruise to victory. Everyone remembers the sandbagging of Vince Grey.

independent like bernie sanders is an independent. it seems crazy that people like her can even get elected. there's not many far, far left democrats in dc and she could hardly be less pricky with constituents. hard to see what the appeal is here.

The Democratic Party candidate is Anita Bonds. Of course the party would distance itself from one of its opponents. Silverman, like McDuffie, is an independent. McDuffie, however, was a Democrat until June.
