James Corden Restaurant Drama

They should have offered him the meal and drinks on the house right then and there. Who expects to wait to eat while their meal is prepared not once, not twice but THREE TIMES??? Come on. He was probably hangry.

It's not like he's going to wither and die of starvation...

Neither is the waitress he complained to about it. The restaurant should have been highly apologetic, not defensive and aggressive. I would never eat there. Ever.

Right? How could you even tell in a cooked omelet if there was some egg white. I can't imagine wanting this or getting upset if it wasn't correct. The only thing I can come up with is she is allergic to egg whites but it would be A. super risky to order this in a restaurant and B. that would have been reported in the press about it.

It depends on how the egg is cooked. She may be on a special diet.

He’s now come out stating she’s allergic. I wish he had just apologized without any caveats. Why is it so hard to say “I didn’t act as I should have and I apologize to X for my behavior”. Full stop.

BS. Then ordering any sort of omelet you didn't make yourself is asinine.

I'm sure they'll cry themselves to sleep tonight about that.

You’re being loose with the facts. His wife, who apparently has allergies, ordered an egg yolk omelet but he sent it back because he said there was some egg white present. The restaurant remade it but sent it out with wrong side (fries instead of salad). He threw a fit when it came out with the fries.

Is she allergic to eggs? Is she allergic to fries? Either way, I think it’s unreasonable to throw a fit. If she’s that allergic, make it known before you order!

I didn’t realize you could only be allergic to part of the egg 😏

This allergy excuse only makes him look worse

https://www.foodallergy.org/living-food-allergies/food-allergy-essentials/common-allergens/egg

The whites of an egg contain the proteins that most commonly cause allergic reactions to egg. If you have an egg allergy, you must avoid eggs completely (both the egg white and the egg yolk). Even if you aren't allergic to egg yolk proteins, it is impossible to separate the egg white completely from the yolk.

Cross-contact will always be a concern.

I’m sure they’re wringing their hands over the loss of business from the James Corden stans.

Are you familiar with the concept of not kicking down? The server was apologetic and Corden was an ass. Then the replacement order had potatoes instead of salad and Corden was an ass about that, too.

When a restaurant screws up, it owes you a corrected order. A lot of them will throw in freebies, too, as a gesture of goodwill, but Corden had already demanded those (why? He can afford to pay for drinks). If it screws up again, it needs to keep trying until it gets things right. But as long as employees are making a good faith effort to fix things, why be a douche? What does that achieve?

Exactly!!! Holy cow, if I'm allergic to anything I'm not going to order PART of it in a restaurant! She's a complete idiot.

I'm sure you will be greatly missed at Balthazar.

+1 That’s how you can tell the allergy thing is BS. Anyone who has ever tried to separate an egg knows there’s no way you can remove every molecule of egg white from the yolk.
Anonymous
how do you remove 100% of egg white from egg yoke -- since the yoke is swimming in the white?
If you're truly that allergic to egg white, then eggs are not for you.

In her defense, maybe she's still salty about the baby on the plane incident. (the Corden baby that is)

Anyone else think it’s weird that he is speaking for his wife? Was she not there?
